Currently, many innovations are being developed and implemented in the Russian preschool education system. Of course, this is a positive moment in terms of updating the content of education, development and upbringing of preschoolers. But I believe that along with the development of modern models of education, it is necessary to turn to the best examples of folk pedagogy. Folklore works are an inexhaustible reservoir of folk wisdom. And I think that it is folk wisdom that should form the basis for the upbringing and development of a child. The use of folklore is especially relevant in working with children with mental retardation. Since children with disabilities perceive material better and learn from what is closest to them and understandable to them, which accompanies them from early childhood - nursery rhymes, songs, fairy tales.

For the theme of the fairy tale, I select nursery rhymes, a Russian folk outdoor game. I plan theatrical, productive activities based on works of oral folk art.

I am developing a system of working with fairy tales, which includes the following areas: moral education, speech development, theatrical activities, games and tasks for the development of mental processes, development of mathematical concepts, productive activities, role-playing games, physical development, work with parents.

Work is planned to introduce children to small folklore forms: riddles, proverbs, sayings.

Work is planned to introduce Russian folk arts and crafts. The preparatory group plans to mainly work on getting acquainted with Khokhloma painting.

Children with mental retardation have deviations not only in mental, but also in physical development. In this case, a pattern can be traced: the greater the degree of mental retardation, the more clearly the disturbances in physical development manifest themselves.
