Pharmacological properties

Pharmacodynamics

The mucolytic and expectorant effect is due to the activation of sialic transferase, an enzyme of goblet cells of the bronchial mucosa. Normalizes the quantitative ratio of acidic and neutral sialomucins in bronchial secretions, restores the viscosity and elasticity of mucus, and facilitates its discharge. Promotes the regeneration of the mucous membrane, normalizes its structure, reduces mucus production, activates the activity of the ciliated epithelium, and improves mucociliary clearance. Restores the secretion of immunologically active IgA (specific protection) and the amount of sulfhydryl groups of mucus components (non-specific protection).

Pharmacokinetics

The maximum concentration in the blood serum and in the mucous membrane of the respiratory tract is achieved 2-3 hours after oral administration and remains in the mucous membrane for 8 hours. It is excreted mainly by the kidneys, partly unchanged, partly in the form of metabolites.

Indications for use

Acute and chronic bronchopulmonary diseases (tracheitis, bronchitis, tracheobronchitis, bronchial asthma, bronchiectasis) and inflammatory diseases of the nasal cavity, nasopharynx, paranasal sinuses and middle ear (rhinitis, adenoiditis, sinusitis, otitis media) accompanied by the formation of a viscous, difficult-to-discharge secretion (sputum , mucus); preparation for bronchoscopy and/or bronchography.

Some facts

Fluditec is the Latin name of the drug.

Manufacturer: Innothera Chouzy, France.

Today you can choose mucolytics that are active against coughs and colds, for every taste and for every budget. One of the excellent and not particularly expensive products is often called Fluditec with carbocisteine.

Composition and release form

Composition of the medicinal product.

Active substance: carbocisteine, 20 mg per 1 ml of orange syrup (2%). 50 mg carbocisteine per 1 ml of green liquid (5%).

Additional ingredients: banana or caramel flavoring, sodium hydroxide, glycerin, methyl parahydroxybenzoate, sucrose, water, orange or green dye.

The bottle contains 125 ml of liquid. The paper box with the bottle contains a measuring cup and instructions for use. Another dosage form of Fluditec is a solution in a sachet - caramel and banana. There are 15 sachets in one cardboard box.

Pharmacological properties

The active substance carbocisteine acts directly on very viscous sputum in the bronchi: it liquefies due to the rupture of disulfide bridges of glycoproteins. This causes fluid to be removed from the bronchi and lungs. Further, the drug maintains the regulation of sputum at the level necessary for rapid recovery.

The drug achieves this effect due to a special enzyme in the goblet cells of the bronchial lining, sialic transphenase. The active ingredient Fluditec regulates the number of neutral and acidic enzymes and the goblet cells themselves. This affects the restoration of normal viscosity of sputum in the bronchi and its elasticity. The amount of hydrophilic mucins that retain water increases, which has a positive effect on the thinning of thick sputum. The performance of the ciliated epithelium is also activated, and mucociliary clearance is improved. Sputum transportation is improved due to the activation of the movement of the villi of the ciliated epithelium and the increase in the efficiency of the ciliary impulse. The product is able to renew the mucous membrane in all respiratory tracts, which effectively stops the production of mucus.

The anti-inflammatory effect is guaranteed due to the specific activity of sialomucins; they reduce bronchial obstruction and swelling. Microcirculation improves. Immunoglobulin A is concentrated to a greater extent and thereby contributes to the activation of local immunity.

Fluditek is also able to have a positive effect on the resumption of certain immune functions: it resumes the secretion of active IgA and regulates the number of groups of sulfhydryl mucus components.

The active substance is absorbed to its maximum within 2-3 hours after administration. The action takes place over 8 hours.

Carbocysteine tends to be excreted from the body in the urine in its unchanged form or in the form of metabolites.

Indications for use

The medicine was created for use to restore disorders of bronchial secretion, as well as remove sputum from them during acute diseases of the lungs or bronchi. This could be, for example:

  • tracheobronchitis,
  • pneumonia,
  • bronchiectasis,
  • tracheitis,
  • laryngitis,
  • acute bronchitis.

Treatment is carried out with the drug in case of chronic diseases of the nose and paranasal sinuses of a chronic course with deterioration in the removal of sputum, including viscous and thick ones. Acts against diseases: nasopharyngitis, sinusitis, inflammation of the middle ear.

Indications may include preparation for procedures: bronchoscopy, bronchography.

Also, a good effect of the drug is observed in case of exacerbations of diseases of the chronic respiratory system.

The onset of autumn cold always tells us that the period of colds is already on the threshold. This problem affects young parents especially acutely, since children's fragile bodies are the most sensitive to the slightest infection. Fluditec cough syrup is a remedy that can not only instantly cope with the primary manifestations of ARVI, but also eliminate it as safely as possible. Today we decided to find out what the drug “Fluditek” is for, and to understand in detail the instructions for its use.

Description and release forms

"Fluditek" is a drug that belongs to the group of mucolytics. This means that the syrup is intended as an expectorant to thin and remove mucus from the bronchi. At the same time, the product has a mild effect on the body - this means that it can be used even in severe forms of the disease without fear for the child.

Did you know?Today, children's cough is considered a male disease, since, according to medical statistics, under the age of 11, boys are more often affected by this pathology than girls.

In addition, this syrup is characterized by the ability to activate the work of specific bronchial tissues (ciliated epithelium), which are responsible for removing phlegm from them without causing irritation or discomfort. This makes it possible to instantly remove unwanted accumulations of harmful substances from the lungs, preventing the development of complications or severe bacterial infection. The drug also has an auxiliary positive effect on the body, which consists of eliminating inflammatory processes in the respiratory system and increasing local immunity.

Today there is a single form of release “Fluditek” for children. This is a 2% syrup with a characteristic taste and smell. There are no tablet or other versions of this medication.

Composition and mechanism of action

Cough syrup consists of the main active ingredient carbocisteine and auxiliary components, which mainly include compounds that provide a pleasant smell, appearance and other beneficial organoleptic qualities (sucrose, flavor identical to natural, etc.). In addition, the product contains lysine salt, which helps to achieve an immediate effect by activating the absorption processes of the substance in the gastrointestinal tract.

The main mechanism of action of this medication is that syrup has a powerful effect on specific goblet cells, which are located in the bronchial mucosa. This action is aimed at blocking the activity of cells, as a result of which there is a decrease in the amount of mucus they produce, while the processes of releasing excess fluid from the respiratory tract are activated.

Fluditec also regulates the effect of the sialyltransferase enzyme on the body, which makes it possible to normalize the amount of acidic and neutral components of the bronchial mucous glands. This helps to instantly liquefy the mucus in them. A decrease in the activity of inflammatory processes is achieved due to the activation of sialomucins and the improvement of local blood circulation. In addition, the main active ingredient of the drug helps to increase the concentration of immunoglobulin type A in the body, which increases local immunity.

Did you know?The lungs play a protective role for the human heart. It lies in the fact that, due to its structure, this organ, like a kind of airbag, is able to mitigate the negative impact on the heart of a blow to the chest area.

Indications for use

This cough syrup is primarily indicated for the treatment of acute and chronic forms of colds, which are characterized by copious production of bronchial sputum. These primarily include: tracheobronchitis, bronchial asthma, etc.

Fluditek is also actively used for the treatment of pathological conditions of the respiratory system, in which processes of abundant secretion of mucous masses are observed. This is mainly inflammation of the nasopharynx or middle ear, rhinitis, otitis, sinusitis of various types, etc.

This drug has also found its use in laboratory and instrumental methods for monitoring the state of the body. For these purposes, Fluditec syrup is used for bronchoscopy and bronchography. In the first case, the syrup components help remove excess moisture from the respiratory tract before inserting a special device - an endoscope. In the second, they participate in the processes of introducing and removing a special radiopaque compound from the body, which helps obtain a contrast image.

Instructions and dosage

In order for the course of treatment with Fluditec cough syrup to be as safe as possible for the body, it is necessary to strictly adhere to the recommended dosage of the drug, which is described in the instructions for its use. At the age of 1-24 months, to remove bronchial mucus, the baby needs to consume no more than 5 ml of medication throughout the day.

When a child gets older, between the ages of 24 and 60 months, he is advised to use syrup in an amount of 10 ml, 5 ml 2 times a day. In this case, the maximum daily dose can be exceeded, but it is important to take into account that the daily dose of carbocisteine consumed with syrup should not exceed 200 mg. Older children (5-15 years old) are recommended to take 15 ml per day. To do this, it is best to divide the daily norm into 3 times.

The duration of treatment with this drug under normal conditions does not exceed 10 days; if the expected result is not achieved within a week, you must consult a doctor to adjust the general course of treatment.

Features of application

Despite the high degree of its security, the use of Fluditec requires parents to strictly follow the manufacturer’s instructions, dosage and taking into account all the features of this drug, without exception. Otherwise, the course of treatment may not be effective, and the course of the disease will become more complicated due to side effects on the body. Let's look at what you definitely need to pay attention to before you start treating sputum in the bronchi in a child.

Contraindications

A medicine as seemingly harmless as cough syrup can have quite extensive contraindications. Fluditek is no exception in this sense. First of all, the most common contraindication is intolerance to the active ingredients of the medication. In this case, the child may experience a serious illness or reaction. Also, taking Fluditec is strictly prohibited during exacerbation of peptic ulcers.

You should not use this medication if your baby has glomerulonephritis, acute or chronic cystitis. In addition, you should pay special attention to the health status of your heir if he has diabetes or, as prescribed by a doctor, adheres to a special regime that excludes the consumption of carbohydrates. To do this, it is worth remembering the amount of sugars that are in the syrup (70 mg per 100 ml). It is also important to remember that the product contains large amounts of sodium compounds, and this can cause unpleasant complications for a child who adheres to a diet that limits salt intake.

It should also be remembered that the drug can indirectly affect the child’s body, especially. Since the syrup is contraindicated for babies under 1 month, its use by pregnant or lactating women should be limited. Despite the fact that direct medical research has not been able to establish the fact of a negative effect of the drug on the fetus, Fluditek is contraindicated for (especially during the first trimester), as well as for. Otherwise, the newborn may suffer serious damage to internal organs and systems.

Side effects

Mostly, this drug is tolerated quite well by the child’s body. However, there is a possibility of developing very serious side effects for many body systems. Your child may experience nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, headache, dizziness, general malaise, and in rare cases, even bleeding in the gastrointestinal tract.

Also, when using syrup with drugs that block coughing at the reflex level, even more serious consequences can be observed. First of all, this is stagnation of sputum and subsequent severe infectious damage to the lungs, which threatens a deterioration in general health and quite serious damage to the respiratory system. Therefore, reflex cough blockers must be strictly alternated with the use of syrup.

Important!In babies aged 1 to 12 months, Fluditec flavors can cause serious allergic reactions on the skin. Therefore, if your child is prone to allergies, it is imperative to inform your doctor.

Overdose

An overdose of cough syrup is a fairly rare case, but there are plenty of examples of this phenomenon in general medical practice. Therefore, if a child experiences vomiting, nausea, or abdominal pain, this is the first sign of intoxication of the body with carbocysteine. In this case, you must immediately provide first aid and call a doctor. To do this, you need to rinse your stomach as quickly as possible with plenty of water and consume the required amount of sorbents.

Storage conditions and shelf life

Fluditec cough syrup remains safe and highly effective for 2 years from the date of manufacture. But in order for the drug to retain its positive qualities until the last day of storage, its contents must be given due attention. To do this, the bottle must be stored in a dry and clean place, at a temperature from +15°C to +25°C.

Analogues of the drug

"Fluditek" is an excellent remedy that can instantly overcome a cough, as well as remove unwanted accumulations of fluid in the bronchi. Despite the lack of advertising, the drug copes with the task quite effectively even in the most severe cases. But it is worth remembering that this is a product of chemical synthesis, which means that recommendations for its use and dosage must be strictly followed.

There are various drugs that have a mucolytic effect, and Fluditec cough syrup for children is considered one of the most popular and effective remedies, so today we, having read the instructions for use, will learn in detail about what kind of cough it should be taken for and how to do it correctly .

This medicine is available in the form of a syrup, which contains different concentrations of the main substance (2% and 5%). It is sold in dark glass bottles with a volume of 125 ml, along with a measuring cup, thanks to which you can measure the required amount of syrup, depending on age.

Fluditec (2%) is a transparent orange liquid with a pleasant banana aroma, but a product with a concentration of 5% has a green color and an equally pleasant caramel smell.
In addition, Fluditec is also available in 10 ml portioned packets with a thick liquid of a light brown hue and a pleasant caramel smell. Packages contain 10, 12 or 15 pieces.

Compound

The main active ingredient is carbocisteine. 1 ml of liquid contains 20 ml or 50 ml of carbocisteine, and one sachet or sachet contains 750 ml of the main component. It also contains several auxiliary components:

  • methyl parahydroxybenzoate;
  • glycerol;
  • sucrose;
  • dye (orange-yellow or green);
  • flavorings (banana or caramel);
  • sodium hydroxide;

Operating principle

In the bronchial mucosa there are so-called goblet cells, with which it interacts mainly: the main component, carbocisteine, actively affects sialic transferase. This is the enzyme that is responsible for the production of goblet cell mucus. As a result of this effect, bronchial secretions are normalized, its viscosity is restored, fluidity is restored, and sputum is separated much more easily.

Fluditec also restores the structure of the mucous membrane and ciliated epithelium. Carbocisteine actively affects local immunity, restoring mucus components, and promotes specific protection of the body, activating the production of immunoglobulin A in the body.
When the substance gets inside, this happens after about 2-3 hours, its maximum concentration is reached in the blood and Fluditec penetrates the bronchial tissue, where it remains in the mucous membrane for about 8 hours. The medicine is excreted in the urine.

Indications

According to the instructions for use, this drug is indicated in the following situations:

  • tracheitis and bronchitis, which occur in acute or chronic forms;
  • pneumonia;
  • bronchial asthma;
  • adenoids, sinusitis, otitis, laryngitis and other diseases of the ENT organs;
  • when preparing the respiratory tract for diagnosis (bronchography, bronchoscopy).

Its widespread use is due to the fact that it thins mucus and facilitates its removal from the respiratory tract.

At what age is it allowed to take

The instructions for use indicate that this drug is contraindicated for children under 2 years of age, since the respiratory tract of the baby is quite weak and cannot yet cope with excess phlegm on its own. From 2 to 15 years of age, the use of a product with a concentration of 2% is allowed. A more concentrated drug (5%) and Fluditec in sachets are prescribed exclusively to adolescents over 15 years of age and adults.

Contraindications and side effects

Fluditec is contraindicated in the following cases:

  • Age up to 2 years.
  • Sensitivity to various components included in the composition.
  • Peptic ulcer of the digestive tract, especially during exacerbation.
  • Cystitis and glomerulonephritis, especially during exacerbation.
  • The drug should be used with special caution by patients with diabetes mellitus, since it contains sucrose.

Fluditec, used for dry and wet coughs, is quite well tolerated, but in some cases the following adverse reactions of the body may be observed:

  • Gastrointestinal disorders: nausea, abdominal pain, flatulence.
  • General malaise, weakness.
  • Various allergic reactions in the form of urticaria and even Quincke's edema.

It is very important to read the instructions before using the product and the contraindications to avoid possible unpleasant consequences.

Instructions for use and dosage

The syrup is given to the child, measuring the required dosage using a measuring cup or spoon.
How should children take Fluditec correctly: before or after meals? The instructions for use indicate the following: in order for the main component to be absorbed by the mucous membrane in maximum quantities, you should not take it with food. It is advisable to take Fluditec 60 minutes before meals or no earlier than 120 minutes after meals.

Each organism is individual, so the course of treatment can only be prescribed by a doctor. On average, the course lasts from 5 to 10 days.

  • For children from 2 to 5 years old, the medicine is usually prescribed 2 times a day, 5 ml per dose, the maximum dosage is 200 mg.
  • Children from 5 to 15 years old are prescribed 5 ml of syrup 3 times a day, the daily dosage is 300 mg.
  • Adolescents over 15 years of age and adults use the substance with a concentration of 5%; the daily dosage of the substance is 750 mg, which is recommended to be divided into 3 doses.

Overdose

If you consume a large amount, the following symptoms are possible:

  • abdominal pain;
  • the appearance of nausea;
  • the appearance of loose stools.

As indicated in the instructions for use, treatment of these manifestations should be symptomatic.

Interaction with other drugs

It is not recommended to use this product in parallel with antitussives.
The instructions also indicate that this drug enhances the effect of antibiotics and glucocorticoids, which must be taken into account when prescribing complex treatment.
