What can you eat with rotavirus. Diet for children with rotavirus infection and after the disease: what can you eat? When Can You Eat Dairy After Rotavirus?

Rotavirus is a common viral disease. debuts with symptoms of a respiratory inflammatory process, then dyspeptic disorders join - abdominal pain with diarrhea, vomiting. The disease is of a seasonal nature, outbreaks of morbidity are noted in the cold season of the year. Small children, people with reduced immune defenses of the body are susceptible to the disease.

The course of the disease varies from person to person. In children, severe dehydration leads to life-threatening conditions. Adults often carry the disease on their feet. Carriage of rotavirus by healthy people without clinical signs of the disease is possible. Antiviral therapy is nonspecific and includes drugs based on immunoglobulins. If a viral infection manages to attach E. coli, antibiotic treatment will be required. Your doctor will determine how many days you need to take the medicine.

There is no etiotropic treatment for the disease. The complex of therapeutic measures consists in pathogenetic steps, elimination of the symptoms of the disease. The body must recover from the disease. It is vitally important to eat right in the acute period of the disease, at the stage of recovery. It will speed up the treatment of gastric flu, make it effective.

Eating right with rotavirus infection is a useful condition for recovery. Together with food, the body receives the necessary biologically active substances that help the body regain strength and normalize immune defenses. In the acute period of the disease, the body is weakened - there is not enough strength, energy for a full-fledged digestive process. Therefore, food during the course of the disease should enter the body in an easily digestible form.

Diet for rotavirus infection can be a remedy for symptoms. The astringent properties of the foods will help fight diarrhea. Fruit compote, decoctions of medicinal plants will help restore the normal water-salt balance.

Do not refuse to eat food in the acute period of the infectious process. Before preparing a diet menu for a patient, find out the details of nutrition for rotavirus infection.

Health food

The first days of the disease are accompanied by intense vomiting, diarrhea. Symptoms lead to severe dehydration, loss of minerals, trace elements by the body. Each entry into the stomach of food, water can provoke bouts of vomiting.

Drinks for rotavirus infection

On the first day after the onset of the disease, it is allowed to drink clean filtered water, electrolyte solutions - Regidron, Gastrolit. After the patient's condition improves, start drinking rosehip and raspberry decoctions. You can give to drink kissel from sweet berries, compote from dried fruits. Weak black tea is allowed.

After 4-5 days of illness, kefir can be gradually introduced into the menu. Other fermented milk products are also useful - yogurt or acidophilus. These products normalize and restore microflora.

Follow the diet during the period of illness, for 2 weeks after the start of recovery. During this time, there will be a complete regeneration of the intestinal epithelium, the usual regime, the diet will gradually return.

Prohibited Products

Diet for intestinal infections in children implies a complete exclusion from the diet:

  1. Fatty meat dishes - chicken legs, wings, pork, lamb, duck, goose.
  2. Fatty fish.
  3. Milk, sour cream.
  4. Fresh vegetables, fruits. Apples are allowed in baked form on the 7-10th day of illness.
  5. Smoked, pickled products, pickles.
  6. Confectionery - chocolate, cakes, pastries.
  7. Black bread, fresh white bread, pasta.
  8. Highly carbonated sweet drinks - Pepsi-Cola, Coca-Cola.
  9. Adult patients need to remember: with rotavirus infection, alcohol is categorically contraindicated.
  10. It is not recommended to eat foods containing phosphoric acid as a stabilizer.

Eating foods from the list stimulate intestinal motility - leading to increased diarrhea. They cause an increase in the processes of fermentation, putrefaction in the intestines. Animal fats cannot be fully digested in the intestines due to enzymatic deficiency that occurs during rotavirus infection.

Features of the diet in the recovery period

It is important to follow a diet, adhere to the principles of sparing nutrition in the acute period with an intestinal infection. After stopping the acute process, the body needs to restore structural elements, normalize physiological functions. If you carefully adhere to the rules of dietary nutrition, observe a sparing diet, recovery will occur much faster.

After removing the acute process, follow the diet for 2-3 weeks. Otherwise, the condition may worsen with the return of unpleasant symptoms.

If the patient at the stage of recovery has a good appetite, it is strongly not recommended to overeat. The body did not restore enzymatic activity. Young immature intestinal epithelial cells, which begin development in place of the damaged ones, do not have time to produce enough enzymes. It is important to eat small meals, but often. Food should be at a comfortable temperature, not too hot or cold. The rule concerns the intake of liquids. Give your baby water every 30 minutes. Give up to 50-70 ml of liquid at a time. If the patient eats too much food, drinks liquids, get ready to vomit.

Don't force your child to eat. Drinking liquid is a must. If the child categorically refuses to drink, signs of obvious dehydration develop, urgently seek medical help. The doctor will have to resort to parenteral drip infusions of saline solutions.

Dishes prepared for a patient after rotavirus should be boiled, steamed. It is unacceptable to eat fried, smoked dishes. Adult patients are categorically contraindicated for beer, alcoholic beverages.

Features of the diet in children

Sparing nutrition for rotavirus infection in children requires an individual approach, depending on the age of the child, his condition. A prerequisite for any age is a dairy-free diet in the first days after the onset of the disease. If the child is breastfed, there are additional difficulties. Rotavirus kills intestinal epithelial cells, inhibits the production of lactose, the enzyme responsible for the breakdown of milk sugar. Diet after rotavirus infection in children requires the exclusion of milk in the early days.

The child will have to be transferred to lactose-free mixtures for the period of illness and recovery. It is recommended to introduce lactose-free soy-based formulas into the diet. A dairy-free diet is accompanied by soldering with compotes, decoctions of medicinal herbs. The lactose-free mixture of lactazar is diluted with water.

If the baby refuses food

Often an ill baby refuses to take food after a viral infection. This also occurs in the acute period of the disease. The child feels bad, refuses to eat.

Do not panic. If the child does not want to eat - do not force him. If you try to feed the child against his will, provoke vomiting, the condition will worsen. Be sure to drink it. Offer a decoction of wild rose, raisins. In the subacute stage, add honey to the drink instead of sugar - a couple of teaspoons.

From the third day of illness, porridge without milk, vegetable dishes in the form of mashed potatoes, semi-liquid are allowed for intestinal infection. Food should be sparing, easy to digest. You can gradually introduce dishes into the child's diet:

  1. Lean meats - chicken, turkey, rabbit.
  2. Low-fat varieties of fish in boiled form.
  3. Liquid porridge on the water. Boil buckwheat, oatmeal. In the early days, it is better to feed the child with rice, semolina liquid porridge.
  4. Steam the vegetables for the child.
  5. For 3-4 days, include a banana in the child's menu. Do not give the patient fresh apples, tangerines.

Rotavirus rarely leaves serious complications. The diet after rotavirus is observed strictly and strictly - it will speed up the healing process in children and adults.

Some recipes for dishes with rotavirus infection

Below are recipes for preparing a patient with rotavirus at home.

Preparing rice water

The decoction has a fixing, enveloping effect, will reduce the effects of diarrhea. To prepare the drink, you will need 4 full tablespoons of rice cereal. Fill them with a liter of water, boil over low heat. Cooking time is from 2 hours. Make sure the rice is cooked through.

The mixture is removed from the heat, rubbed until a homogeneous mass is obtained. The resulting liquid should be cooled, add half a teaspoon of salt, soda on the tip of a knife to it. Place the finished chilled mixture in the refrigerator for storage. If you need to drink the patient - a couple of tablespoons of the mixture can be slightly warmed up.

Apple puree with carrots

Giving a patient with rotavirus infection fresh vegetables and fruits is strictly contraindicated. A healthy and tasty alternative to fresh vegetables is mashed carrots with apples. Children eat the dish with pleasure even with no appetite. Most parents leave positive feedback about him. Television pediatrician Komarovsky recommends such a dish in the subacute period for feeding a child. Remember: you can eat mashed potatoes in small portions.

Apples and carrots are taken in equal proportions, washed, peeled. Grate the food on a fine grater, add 5 tablespoons of sugar per 1 kg of vegetable mixture. You can use natural honey instead of sugar. Bring the resulting mixture to a boil. After readiness, the puree is poured into small glass jars, stored in the refrigerator so that it does not disappear.

Menu for a child

So that the child does not get tired of the same food, diversify the menu. For breakfast, serve steam omelets, let's low-fat cottage cheese. Breakfast can be washed down with weakly brewed tea. For tea, give a couple of rich crackers. An alternative to scrambled eggs, cottage cheese is porridge on the water.

For lunch, cook vegetable broth soup for the baby. For the second, serve meatballs from lean meat, fish cakes. The second option is just boiled fish. Garnish - mashed potatoes, boiled buckwheat. On the third - dried fruit compote, rosehip broth.

For dinner, the child will be happy to eat porridge or fish steam cutlets, carrot puree with apples. At night, for children who have had a rotavirus infection, doctors offer 50 ml of kefir, a rosehip broth.

Prepare a dessert for a sick baby from a banana or a baked apple. As the child's body recovers, you can gradually introduce dried bread, lean boiled meat into the diet table. With an intestinal infection, it is recommended to eat fractionally, in small portions. It is not recommended to eat too much food at a time. Chew each piece carefully. Mineral water without gases can help an adult. With this drink, you can quickly restore the balance of mineral elements in the human body. This takes weeks.

Dairy baby food is introduced into the diet three weeks after the illness during the period of complete recovery. Parents think about acceptable foods in the child's diet after rotavirus, while an exacerbation occurs, but forget about drinking. Plentiful drinking is much more important in the acute period. Helps the body fight against rotavirus infection.

To avoid severe dehydration from rotavirus, the child needs to drink plenty of fluids. It is better to use a water-salt solution. Buy sachets of rehydron at the pharmacy, you can cook it yourself at home. 2 tablespoons of granulated sugar are dissolved in a liter of boiled water. Add a spoonful of table salt, half a teaspoon of soda to the solution. Drinking for a child at any age is a home remedy for rotavirus, treating the symptoms of dehydration, removing toxins from the body.

Prepare a decoction of raisins - the drink will be rich in magnesium, potassium. Feeding a child grapes, raisins is not recommended.

You need to drink the baby every half hour, 50 ml. Use weak tea, a decoction of rose hips. It is not recommended to give chicken broth in the acute period - it contains extractive substances that are not digested, not absorbed by the body. The epithelium after an intestinal infection has not recovered, unable to fuse with a difficult task.

A properly selected sparing children's diet allows the body to quickly defeat the stomach flu, rotavirus. A nutritionist, gastroenterologist will tell you the products allowed in the acute period, during rehabilitation, what to cook in the acute stage of the disease. Ask your dietitian why you shouldn't eat specific foods when you're sick. It is important to consider product compatibility.

It happens that for no reason a person has a sharp rise in temperature, a stomachache, vomiting and diarrhea begin. What kind of misfortune is this, because not the slightest prerequisites for any disease were observed. Most likely you have caught a rotavirus infection, which, as a rule, always starts unexpectedly. Rotavirus or as it is also called "intestinal flu" is one of the most common intestinal infections. At the first symptoms, measures should be taken immediately, namely, begin to follow a therapeutic diet aimed at restoring the body after "food poisoning".

What is rotavirus infection

Rotavirus infection is a contagious viral disease transmitted by airborne droplets, through the use of poor-quality or spoiled food, as well as through dirty hands. Rotavirus infects the mucous membrane of the gastrointestinal tract, then is eliminated from the body naturally. However, not every intestinal infection is a rotavirus; it is possible to accurately determine the diagnosis by laboratory after testing.

Symptoms of rotavirus infection:

  • Sneeze;
  • Heat;
  • Sharp pain in the abdomen;
  • Diarrhea;
  • Vomit;
  • Malaise and weakness.

According to statistics, about 137 million people in the world carry rotavirus infection, while only a quarter of them are hospitalized. In order to avoid hospitalization, it is urgent to take a number of measures to treat the disease. The main methods of treatment of rotavirus infection are: diet, drinking regimen and additional intake of rehydration solutions.

Basic principles of diet for rotavirus infection in adults

In order to cure rotavirus infection at home, you should follow a soft, sparing diet aimed at replenishing the fluid deficiency in the body.
The first step is to exclude from your diet all dairy products, fatty, fried, smoked, pickled dishes, as well as sweets and fresh pastries.

In the first days, due to intoxication of the body, diarrhea and vomiting, there is a lack of appetite. However, in order to make up for all the losses of nutrients, it is simply necessary to eat, preferably 5-7 times a day, but in small portions. Food should be easily digestible, have binding and astringent properties in order to prevent diarrhea. It is shown in the diet the use of cereals, low-fat soups, croutons from wheat bread. You can eat vegetables with a diet, but only boiled, stewed or baked.

With rotavirus, the human body is dehydrated, and therefore it is worth drinking as much liquid as possible. It is shown to drink every 30 minutes, 50-70 ml. You can drink both purified water without gas, and compotes and jelly from berries, decoctions from herbs. You can add sugar for taste.

For a speedy recovery, the use of rehydration solutions is shown, which can be prepared independently at home (for example, rice water, rosehip broth), and specialized preparations purchased at the pharmacy (hydrovit, rehydron, humana, gastrolith), which are diluted with water and taken half a glass every 1.5-2 hours.

Features of the diet for rotavirus infection in children

Rotavirus infection is much more likely to affect children, especially at an early age (up to 2 years). The symptoms of the disease in children correspond to adults, however, treatment is much more difficult, since the immune system is not yet fully formed in childhood. The main method of treatment of rotavirus infection in children is diet, since there are no specialized drugs to combat rotaviruses.

If the child is breastfed with rotavirus infection, then you should continue to continue the usual diet, since mother's milk contains all the necessary vitamins, immunoglubulins and other useful substances. In this case, it is worth giving up other complementary foods. Infants who are artificially fed, it is necessary to switch to a dairy-free diet (cereals and mixtures that do not contain lactose).

Diet for rotovirus in children 2-5 years old according to Komarovsky It is aimed at relieving inflammation in the intestines and replenishing the deficiency of fluid in the body. In the first 2-3 days, it is necessary to give the child cereals boiled in water without oil, lean broths, crackers. In the following days, you can gradually expand the diet by adding lean meat and fish, steamed omelets, mashed potatoes, apples or carrots. Baked fruits (apples, pears) are recommended as snacks. At the stage of recovery, when the gag reflexes stop, the temperature and stool normalize, it is recommended to include yogurts in the child's diet to restore the intestinal microflora.

The basic rules of the diet for rotavirus infection according to Komarovsky:

  1. Exclusion from the diet of dairy, sour-milk products, raw fruits and vegetables, carbonated drinks, sweets;
  2. Plentiful drink. The child should be given a solution of rehydron as often as possible, but since it tastes unpleasant, you can replace it with compotes, jelly, decoctions of berries. The child needs to drink 50 ml every 30 minutes;
  3. Food should be fractional (7-8 times a day), but in small portions, so as not to provoke vomiting;
  4. It is not necessary to force a child to eat;
  5. Before starting a diet, be sure to consult a pediatrician.

Recipes

At the very beginning of the treatment of rotavirus infection, during the period of exacerbation, the drinking regimen plays the most important role rather than food. During this period, it is necessary to include rehydration solutions in the diet menu. You can use pharmaceutical preparations (hydrovit, rehydron), which are produced in the form of ready-made powders and simply diluted with water. If there were none at hand, you should not be upset, you can prepare decoctions of herbs and cereals at home, as well as water-salt solutions to replenish the loss of fluid in the body.

Water-salt solution for rotavirus infection

Ingredients:

  • Water 1 liter;
  • Sugar 2-4 tablespoons;
  • Table salt 1 tablespoon;
  • Soda 0.5 teaspoon.

Cooking method:

  1. Bring water to a boil, add sugar, salt and soda, stir until the ingredients are completely dissolved.
  2. Let cool. Take 50 ml of solution every 2 hours.

In order not to provoke an excess of salts in the body, it is indicated to use a water-salt solution during the diet in combination with other drinks (decoctions of berries, herbs).

Rice congee

Rice congee

Ingredients:

  • Rice 3-4 tablespoons;
  • Water 1 liter;
  • Salt 0.5 teaspoon;
  • Soda 0.5 teaspoon.

Cooking method:

  1. Pour water into a saucepan, bring to a boil, add rice and cook over low heat until fully cooked.
  2. Allow to cool slightly, then strain the decoction through a sieve.
  3. Add 0.5 teaspoon of soda and salt to the broth, stir until the ingredients are completely dissolved.

Rice broth has an enveloping effect and will help you quickly cope with diarrhea during an exacerbation of the disease, so it is recommended to use it in the first days of the diet.

Rosehip decoction

Rosehip decoction

Ingredients:

  • Rosehip berries;
  • Water.

Cooking method:

  1. Chop the rosehip berries, put them in a saucepan and pour water in a ratio of 1:10 (i.e., 1 liter of water is taken for 100 g of berries).
  2. Put the pan on gas, bring to a boil, cover with a lid.
  3. Leave the decoction to infuse for 12 hours.

Rose hips are an effective remedy against pathogenic bacteria, especially the digestive organs, and therefore a decoction of these berries is extremely useful in a therapeutic diet for rotavirus infection.

Nutrition after rotavirus infection

With rotavirus infection, an inflammatory process begins in the intestine, in which the synthesis of an enzyme that can break down lactose is disrupted. That is why in the first days dairy and sour-milk products should be completely excluded from the diet. However, they are necessary to restore normal intestinal microflora, so it is important to correctly continue to follow a diet after a rotavirus infection, both for children and adults.

During the rehabilitation period, which lasts at least 3 weeks, you should continue to follow the diet menu for rotavirus infection, eat cereals, soups, boiled or stewed vegetables, lean meat and fish. Foods prohibited during the diet during the rehabilitation period should be introduced gradually. In the first week, it is allowed to flavor porridge with a small amount of butter or vegetable oil, add honey to tea or compote.

During the recovery period with a diet, other side effects are possible - constipation or stool retention. In this case, you need to drink a couple of tablespoons of freshly squeezed beetroot juice at night or prepare a salad of boiled beets, grated, seasoned with lemon juice and vegetable oil. Adults can add a couple of cloves of minced garlic to the salad.

By the end of the recovery period, you can gradually add dairy and sour-milk products to the diet(for example, kefir or natural yogurt), observing the reaction of the body and gradually increasing their amount.

In preventive measures, in order to avoid re-infection with rotavirus infection, it is recommended to carefully observe the hygiene regime, wash hands with soap before a meal, as well as pay close attention to the food consumed, monitoring their consumer characteristics and expiration date.

Rotavirus infection is an acute intestinal disease of viral origin. Manifested by vomiting, diarrhea, symptoms of dehydration, high fever. Diet after rotavirus in a child is important, since there are currently no funds for specific therapy of the disease, and proper nutrition remains one of the main methods of treatment and prevention of recurrence of rotavirus infection.

Basic dietary rules for rotavirus infection

With rotavirus infection in the first days, milk and dairy products (including sour-milk products), cottage cheese, and cheeses are completely excluded from the nutrition of children. Raw vegetables and fruits, any kind of sweets, sparkling water are also contraindicated. The diet in the acute period includes white bread crackers (preferably cooked at home), rice porridge on the water, compotes from blueberries, dry apples, mineral water, rice water.

In the future, the diet is slightly expanded. It is very important for a rotavirus infection to ensure adequate drinking. Food should be given in small portions 6-8 times a day. If the baby does not want to eat, it is not necessary to force-feed him, so as not to induce vomiting.

The diet immediately after rotavirus should also be dairy-free.

Dr. Komarovsky in his school explains that with this infection in the intestines
inflammation occurs and the synthesis of an enzyme that decomposes lactose is disrupted. In the first weeks, even a small amount of milk can damage and cause symptoms of gastritis, diarrhea, and abdominal pain. Therefore, the exclusion of milk is the most important rule for the diet of children with rotavirus infection.

The issue of breastfeeding with rotavirus is complex. The fact is that mother's milk also contains lactose, which is poorly digested, and the baby may have problems with the intestines, both in the acute period and during the convalescence period. Some doctors advise to keep breastfeeding for children under one year old, since breast milk contains the most important immuglobolin A, which protects the mucous membrane of the gastrointestinal tract from bacteria and viruses. Although there are versions that it is better to completely or partially transfer the baby to low-lactose or soy mixtures in the acute period and in the first two or three weeks after rotavirus.

The main products for rotavirus infection

With rotavirus infection in children, the diet should include the following list of products:

  • wheat crackers;
  • cereals (rice, oatmeal, buckwheat);
  • mashed potatoes, carrots;
  • baked or mashed apple;
  • low-fat broth, vegetable puree soup;
  • jelly;
  • rice water, tea, mineral water, dry fruit compote.

Should be excluded from the diet:

  • milk and all dairy products;
  • fried and stewed dishes;
  • sweets;
  • spices, marinades, smoked meats;
  • carbonated water.

Feeding children immediately after a rotavirus infection

As already mentioned, if the baby has had rotavirus, then the diet should not include milk. This restriction should be followed for about three weeks after the acute period of infection. On the first day, the child's food is limited to crackers. On the second day, you can give rice porridge on the water without butter. On the third day, they include buckwheat or oatmeal, also on water and without oil. You can give some mashed potatoes.

Salt solutions (rehydron, smecta) are recommended from drinks. For many children, their taste is unpleasant, therefore, for adequate rehydration in such cases, it is recommended to add compote from dry blueberries or dry apples, salted mineral water without gas, rice decoction, tea, herbal decoctions to the menu.

The menu for the next week should consist of cereals, fat-free chicken or veal broth (with or without meatballs), pureed vegetable soups.

You can give a steam omelet, chicken or veal cutlets, steamed. Also, the diet for children should include fruits (apples) in the form of mashed potatoes, carrots and mashed potatoes. Fruits and vegetables should not be given raw, it is better to bake them in the oven.

Don't forget to drink. During the period of early convalescence, children can be given lightly sweetened tea, dried apple or blueberry compote. Kissel is good, you can cook it yourself. To do this, take apple or blueberry compote, bring to a boil, add two tablespoons of starch to a liter (previously dilute it in cold water). You can also cook rice water. One and a half teaspoons of rice are thrown into half a liter of water and boiled for about forty minutes. Ready broth is filtered and given to drink to the child.

Nutrition of children in the first month after rotavirus infection

If a week has passed since the child had rotavirus, then the diet can be expanded. The diet includes butter and vegetable fats, which are added in small amounts to cereals and vegetable purees. From sweets, honey is allowed, it can be added a little to tea. A small patient needs to renew his strength, so it is advisable to give him meat broths, soups with meatballs, meat or fish steam cutlets.

At the end of the recovery period, you can carefully try to give fermented milk products - yogurt or kefir.

If the baby normally tolerates them, then the diet can already be expanded. From chocolate, muffins, soda water, caramels should be abandoned at least for a month. To cheer up children, they can be offered dry cookies, sweet crackers. Here is a sample menu for a diet for the recovery period:

Rotavirus infection (RVI) is an intestinal infection caused by rotaviruses. Many people are susceptible to it, but rotavirus most often affects young children. The speed of recovery depends largely on what to feed the child with rotavirus infection.

Infection with the virus occurs by the fecal-oral and contact-household route. Gastroenteritis, which develops in the patient's body, is manifested by vomiting and diarrhea. There are also manifestations of SARS - cough and runny nose. Rotavirus infection is quite easy, however, the diet should contribute to a speedy recovery.

The purpose of the diet for a child with rotavirus infection

Since a patient with RVI is accompanied by vomiting and diarrhea, his body experiences dehydration, that is, the loss of a large amount of water. The water-electrolyte balance is disturbed - the ratio of water and microelements. Rotavirus damages the intestinal cells, so it does not absorb water normally. The diet after rotavirus in children is aimed at replenishing the lost fluid and reducing the concentration of sodium in the body.

Basic principles of nutrition

Nutrition for rotavirus infection must meet two requirements. Firstly, it is necessary that the food be soft, have a gentle effect on the weakened gastrointestinal tract. Secondly, it should smoothly restore all its functions, activate the digestive tract. But the most important point in this infectious disease is the abundance of drink. It is not so scary if the child does not want to eat at first. Don't force him too much. To make up for the losses, he just needs to drink plenty of fluids. Here you need to apply all the subtleties of education and give him a drink as often as possible. The best option is to drink every half an hour.

Parents of infants face particular challenges. They are lost and do not know how to build the nutrition of their child with RVI. Fortunately, with rotavirus infection, breastfeeding will only help a speedy recovery. Mother's milk is a universal medicine for a child. This is a liquid that is so necessary for the body when an infection enters. Milk contains antibodies that fight infection, as well as a host of nutrients that help the weakened gastrointestinal tract return to normal function more quickly.

Breastfeeding has another undeniable advantage. With any disease, the child experiences psychological stress. The process of feeding, the presence of a mother nearby always calms him.

Approved Products

With RVI, you can drink non-carbonated water. In addition, the following drinks can and should be included in the diet:

  • weak black tea with a small amount of sugar;
  • dried fruits compote;
  • rosehip decoction;
  • tea based on medicinal herbs - chamomile or mint.

You need to feed the baby with liquid warm food, which has an enveloping effect. This is, for example, chicken broth. You can give rice and oatmeal, but you need to cook them not with milk, but with water. It is acceptable to serve potato, pumpkin or other vegetable puree. Milk is excluded from all dishes. Dietary meats such as chicken and turkey, as well as steamed fish, are useful. You can cook a delicious treat - bake apples in the oven. White bread is allowed, but only in dried form and in small quantities.

Prohibited Products

With rotavirus infection, the work of some digestive enzymes is disrupted. This applies to lactase, an enzyme that breaks down the lactose found in milk. With regard to infants, violation of the absorption of mother's milk is rare. As a precautionary measure, milk consumption during breastfeeding should be reduced to 50-75% with a gradual increase. If we talk about older children, all dairy products of animal origin should be excluded from the diet during the recovery period.

There is another restriction on nutrition for RVI. Foods containing coarse fiber are excluded from the diet. Fiber is a vegetable carbohydrate that is not digested in the human body, but has a beneficial effect on the digestive tract, cleansing it. With an intestinal infection, it will only irritate the mucous membranes of the organs, so turnips, radishes, white cabbage should not be given.

It is absolutely not necessary to give a child during an illness store-bought sweets, chips, carbonated drinks, ice cream, very cold or very hot drinks. You can not eat fried, spicy, fatty and salty foods.

sample menu

The dietary menu for a child who has caught rotavirus may be something like this. This menu is average and may not be suitable in any particular case, for example, if you have a food allergy:

  1. Breakfast: soft-boiled egg, dried white bread, chamomile tea.
  2. Lunch: chicken broth, a piece of chicken breast, dried fruit compote.
  3. Snack: baked apple, weak black tea.
  4. Dinner: turkey, mashed potatoes, rosehip broth.

Dishes recommended to patients with an intestinal infection may seem tasteless to children, look unappetizing to them. In this case, parents should show their imagination and present the dish correctly - it is interesting to serve it, decorate it beautifully, come up with an interesting story so that children want to eat this food. Nutrition with RVI is one of the most important factors on which the speed of recovery depends.

Purpose, goal of sparing nutrition in rotavirus infection

  1. To avoid the development of vomiting, worsening of the condition, reduce the daily diet, eat fractionally, but more often. The number of meals during the day is at least 6-8.
  2. Choose cereal cereals boiled in water. Useful rice, semolina porridge. They are characterized by an astringent effect and envelop the mucous membrane of the stomach and intestines. Another useful property of the products is the absence of fermentation processes in the intestines after consumption. Boil the porridge until semi-liquid, do not add salt, milk, butter.
  3. It is not recommended to use vegetable, butter in the acute period. The first enhances intestinal motility, exacerbates the effects of diarrhea. Due to enzymatic deficiency, which occurs due to damage to the intestinal epithelium, butter is poorly digested and absorbed by the body.
  4. On the third or fourth day, the diet for intestinal infection is expanded with other cereals on the water - oatmeal or corn. You can boil buckwheat.
  5. When the patient's condition improves, meat can be added to the diet. Proper nutrition for rotavirus infection should include lean meats in boiled, steam form. Give the sick rabbit fillet, veal. It is useful to eat chicken breast, turkey. It is better to cook steamed cutlets or meatballs from meat - it will improve digestion, absorption of useful food components.
  6. The diet after rotavirus infection allows the consumption of low-fat varieties of fish.
  7. After the introduction of meat, the patient is allowed to eat eggs. It is better to cook a steam omelette. Remember the norm - 1-2 eggs per week.
  8. You can eat fruits and vegetables in a boiled, baked form. Puree vegetables in water without adding oil, salt. Potatoes, carrots, broccoli, zucchini are served to the patient.

Give liquids at a time. If the patient eats too much food, drinks liquids, get ready to vomit.

Do not force a child to eat by force if there is no appetite.

With the stomach flu, it takes weeks.

Therapeutic nutrition: how to feed a child with rotavirus infection, diet and menu for every day

The transition to a special diet is a mandatory aspect of the treatment of rotavirus. Diets during the period of illness and after it are different. However, they also have something in common - the foods used and dishes from them should contribute to the recovery of the child after an illness. About how to feed a child with rotavirus infection, we will tell in the article.

Diet for children under one year of breastfeeding

When a baby of the first year of life has all the symptoms of rotavirus on his face, the question automatically arises of how to deal with breastfeeding. To date, the opinion of doctors is divided into two groups:

  1. It is imperative to continue breastfeeding, since only mother's milk can help the child's body to cope with the disease as much as possible.

With natural feeding, the mother, along with breast milk, transfers to the baby not only the necessary nutrients, but also antibodies, due to which the future immunity of the little person is formed. Milk contains special cells that help the inflamed intestines recover faster.

  • Since rotavirus damages the cells of an incompletely formed intestine, it cannot qualitatively process lactose. Therefore, some pediatricians recommend temporarily abandoning breastfeeding and switching to lactose-free or soy-adapted formulas.

    However, it is important to know that during the period of illness it is extremely undesirable to “tear off” the baby from the chest and abruptly switch to the mixture. In addition, it is often difficult to return to full-fledged natural feeding even after a break of 2-3 weeks.

  • As you continue breastfeeding your baby, here are a few things to keep in mind:

    • Breastfeed your baby more often than usual. Food will come in smaller portions, due to which it will be better absorbed. It happens that the child does not want to suck at the very moment when you offer him. In this case, feed on demand, as always.
    • If rotavirus has caused lactase deficiency, the pediatrician will definitely prescribe drugs containing lactase:
      • "Lactraz",
      • "Lactazar",
      • "Lactase Baby".

    Nutrition for artificial babies up to a year

    For artificial people, the diet remains the same, but the frequency of meals changes, and its usual amount decreases somewhat. It is possible to focus on several feeding schemes, depending on the severity of the baby's condition.

    Feeding schemes. Table 1

    • "NAN Sour Milk";
    • "Nutrilak Sour Milk";
    • "Humana LP";
    • "Humana LP + SCT";
    • Feeding porridge cooked in water is acceptable.

    Feeding schemes. table 2

    Artificial babies are allowed to drink glucose-salt solution to avoid dehydration. For a liter of drinking water, 1 teaspoon of salt + 1/2 teaspoon of soda + 1 tablespoon (4 teaspoons) of sugar.

    What can you eat with rotavirus for children older than a year

    Babies older than a year, as a rule, eat from the common table. All meals must be fresh and self-cooked. Especially during the period of illness and remission.

    In a diseased state, the intestines perceive only soft, ground food, without spices and seasonings.

    The patient's table should be extremely sparing. When cooking, it is better to use either the stewing method or the boiling method. There should be no fried food.

    Try to ensure that everything you give your baby is quickly and easily digested: fermentation and rotting of food in a small stomach is unacceptable, as this can further aggravate the situation.

    We must not forget about drinking plenty of water, the only way to protect the baby from critical fluid loss. If he does not want to drink, you will have to persuade him or use non-traditional methods of drinking. Alternatively, you can use a syringe without a needle, with which the liquid is poured over the cheek.

    What can you eat

    Not many foods are allowed for the first week:

    • poultry-based broths;
    • meat cooked by boiling;
    • fish dishes (their low-fat fish);
    • oatmeal porridge (on water) with a minimum addition of butter;
    • on the 6th-7th day, semolina porridge, rice porridge, buckwheat, cooked exclusively in water and rubbed through a sieve, are allowed;
    • omelette;
    • cottage cheese with a minimum fat content;
    • wheat crackers or custard cookies;
    • steamed vegetables;
    • cereals diluted with vegetable broth;
    • bananas. A pediatrician will help determine whether a banana is possible for a sick child. As a rule, for 3-4 days, with tangible improvements, you can gradually return this fruit to the diet.

    From drinks it is permissible to use:

    • green tea,
    • kissel,
    • rosehip decoction,
    • glucose saline solution
    • light decoction of raisins,
    • morsa (during the recovery period).

    With a decrease or disappearance of symptoms, the baby gradually and very carefully returns to the usual menu. There is no need to rub through a sieve.

    What is forbidden to eat

    To remove the load from the intestines as much as possible, it is necessary to exclude a whole list of foods from the diet of a child older than 1 year.

    "Excluded" products include:

    • sweets, goodies. Only grams of sugar per day are allowed, for example, to sweeten tea or compote;
    • juices (grape, plum, apricot), kvass, fruit drink;
    • fresh and dried fruits, raw vegetables;
    • fatty meat and fish;
    • dairy products. For children after 1 year in the acute period and after recovery, a dairy-free diet is established for more than a month;
    • flour and pasta;
    • cereals from a cell, millet, barley;
    • canned food;
    • onions, garlic, beets, radishes, radishes, spinach, mushrooms, sorrel, cabbage;
    • beans;
    • sausages;
    • eggs (fried and hard-boiled);
    • spices, spicy, fried, smoked.

    Menu for rotavirus

    The basic rule for compiling a menu is that food should not be repeated from day to day, should not become boring and be easily digestible. It is very important to maintain such a diet for a month after rotavirus or for a period determined by the pediatrician.

    If the child is in a hospital, his diet will determine the clinical nutrition (tables 4b and 4c). If he is on home treatment, the pediatrician will advise you to stick to the foods recommended on these tables in the baby's diet.

    Diet 4b is a moderate type of food to help improve digestion. Diet 4c is prescribed during the recovery period and provides good nutrition with a reservation for individual intestinal dysfunctions. Dishes from these diets are quite diverse, despite the fact that a sufficient amount of foods familiar to the baby is “banned”.

    Dr. Komarovsky: what to eat with intestinal flu

    Pediatrician Komarovsky offers one single diet for all babies, regardless of age. Its principle is the complete exclusion of all dairy products from the diet of a sick child. This is due to the fact that with rotavirus, intestinal activity decreases and it ceases to cope with the high-quality processing of lactose.

    Therefore, according to Komarovsky, even mother's milk can provoke deterioration in the condition of the crumbs. The doctor does not insist on a complete (during the illness) transition to specialized lactose-free mixtures. But recommends replacing at least a few feedings with a mixture. This regimen should be observed for about 2-3 weeks. This treatment will end, and it will be possible to restore breastfeeding.

    If the baby is originally artificial, then during the illness, the usual mixture is replaced by a special one. It is not worth delaying feeding with these mixtures for up to a month or two. As soon as rotavirus diarrhea has passed, it is enough for another 3 weeks for prevention, so that the body of the crumbs gets stronger. Then you can return to your normal diet.

    What can you eat after an infection

    The desire of parents to feed the child as tightly as possible after recovery is fundamentally wrong and can only harm him. The diet immediately after the illness and the diet a month later will be somewhat different from each other.

    The main principles of nutrition in the first weeks after the transferred virus are as follows:

    • for approximately three weeks, do not include any products containing milk in the diet;
    • after the acute phase of diarrhea:
      • on the 1st day only crackers,
      • the next day, rice porridge on the water is added,
      • further allowed buckwheat or oatmeal on the water, mashed potatoes of a very liquid consistency without butter and milk;
    • be sure to drink plenty of water (as prescribed with the addition of drugs):
      • "Smekta",
      • "Rehydron",
      • glucose saline solution
      • dried fruits compote,
      • green tea,
      • rosehip decoction.

    Immediately after the illness, it is better to stick to an approximate menu for a week, which will include the following dishes:

    • porridge on the water;
    • broths on poultry meat of low-fat breeds;
    • mashed vegetable soups;
    • veal broth;
    • steamed turkey meatballs;
    • omelette;
    • baked apples;
    • carrot-apple puree;
    • on the seventh day you can add butter;
    • fish cakes.

    This diet lasts for about a month. Then the usual foods are returned to the diet in small portions. At the same time, for a while, in whole or in part, it is worth abandoning:

    2-3 weeks after the illness, start returning the food in its usual form. Doctors, including Dr. Komarovsky, allow the following fermented milk products to be consumed immediately after rotavirus:

    • kefir,
    • ryazhenka,
    • curdled milk,
    • yogurt without chemical additives (live yogurt with a shelf life of no more than 5 days, containing only milk and sourdough).

    The child does not eat anything after illness: what to do

    There are frequent cases when, after an illness, the baby refuses to eat, and the parents begin to seriously worry about this - the strength is already lost, it is necessary to restore, and the appetite is gone.

    Refusal to eat is a sign that the body has not yet fully recovered from the illness. Therefore, in such situations, it is better not to insist and not to force-feed. Such parental behavior can easily provoke a negative attitude towards meals or gag reflexes at the sight of food in the future.

    After the illness, continue to water the baby more - so the microbes will quickly leave the child's body. It is very important to watch the baby all this time. If, when refusing food, the baby is cheerful and cheerful, active, do not worry. Soon the appetite will improve, but now it is enough just to offer dishes, but not to insist.

    Try to give more "nutritious" drink, rather than plain water. Suitable for this purpose:

    Diet and nutrition after the virus

    Every day the child is on the mend, the appetite returns, and you can diversify the meager dietary table a little. Below are examples of menus that will help you navigate the choice of dishes for your baby.

    Diet for rotavirus infection in children

    Nutrition for a child with rotavirus infection is one of the methods of treatment. If the diet is correct, it will speed up the healing process and protect against dehydration.

    Basic nutrition rules

    Features of the diet for rotavirus infection are determined by the effect of the virus on the intestines. With this disease, the production of lactase in the intestine decreases, while the restoration of the ability to produce this enzyme can take up to 2-3 weeks.

    Features of nutrition with rotavirus infection:

    • Feed a child with rotavirus infection should be fractional. Drinks and food that are allowed to be consumed are given in small portions with small intervals between meals.
    • If the child has lost his appetite, which often happens in the first days of this illness, do not force him. Offer drinks and light meals to your baby from time to time. And when the baby wants to eat, give food according to the therapeutic diet.
    • Until the diarrhea ends, all food should be steamed or boiled well, and thoroughly chopped.
    • In case of infection in infants, the type of feeding is taken into account. If the child is fed formula milk, then for the duration of the illness it is advised to replace it with mixtures with a reduced lactose content. Breastfeeding with this infection does not need to be stopped.
    • On the first day of illness, a child can be fed according to the BRYAS principle - according to this abbreviation, a baby can be given a banana (ripe), rice (boiled), apples (in the form of mashed potatoes) and crackers.

    What can you eat?

    In the diet of crumbs suffering from rotavirus infection, you can leave:

    • Semolina, oatmeal, buckwheat and rice porridge, boiled in vegetable broth or water, without sugar and oil;
    • Low-fat broth, which may contain a handful of rice or well-cooked vegetables;
    • Steam omelet;
    • Fresh mashed cottage cheese;
    • Steamed fish or meat meatballs;
    • Baked apples without skin;
    • Dairy products (low fat);
    • Fruit marmalade (preferably homemade);
    • Homemade croutons from the crumb of a loaf;
    • Boiled vegetables.

    What can't be fed?

    For the duration of the illness, the following are excluded from the child's menu:

    • Fatty broth and soup;
    • Fatty meats;
    • Sausages and sausages;
    • Raw fruits and vegetables (especially onions, cabbage, cucumber, and other fiber-rich foods)
    • cocoa and chocolate;
    • Pasta;
    • Muffin;
    • Sweets;
    • Fresh black bread;
    • Barley, barley and millet porridge;
    • Fatty fish and canned fish;
    • Nuts;
    • Mushrooms;
    • Any smoked and pickled products.

    What can and cannot be given from drinks?

    The intake of a sufficient amount of fluid to replace losses during vomiting and diarrhea is extremely important for rotavirus infection. First of all, the child should receive water-salt solutions - from pharmaceutical preparations or prepared independently. You can also give your baby herbal teas with mint and chamomile.

    When the symptoms begin to fade, you can give the baby rice water, jelly, rosehip compote, apple and carrot compote, and dried blueberry compote. Carbonated drinks and tea with milk should be excluded from the child's diet.

    Recipes of water-salt solutions for rotavirus

    home solution

    Pour two tablespoons of sugar into a liter of water, stir, add baking soda and salt a teaspoon each, stir again. Give this solution every five minutes in a small amount.

    Salt solution with raisins

    Boil a third cup of raisins in a liter of water for 60 minutes and then cool. When straining the raisins that will remain in the sieve, knead well so that more glucose gets into the broth. Add 4 teaspoons of sugar, 1 teaspoon of salt and 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda to the drink. The taste of this drink is very pleasant and children drink it with pleasure.

    Diet after an illness

    For sufficient recovery of the digestive tract after an illness, at least 2 weeks after recovery, the following foods should be limited:

    • Drinks and dishes with a low temperature, such as ice cream;
    • Bean dishes;
    • Rye bread;
    • beets;
    • millet porridge;
    • Whole milk.

    If the child becomes ill during the introduction of complementary foods, return to the samples of new products should be no earlier than a month later.

    Diet and nutrition for rotavirus infection in a child

    Rotavirus infection in a child develops as a result of infection with the virus of the same name. Most often, rotavirus occurs in the earliest age category: from 6 months to 2 years. Therapeutic therapy and the success of the recovery of the baby directly depend on the observance of the correct composition and diet.

    Diet for rotavirus: the main purpose

    The diet that the doctor prescribes for the child during the period of illness and after it is designed to:

    • significantly reduce the load on all digestive organs;
    • prevent dehydration;
    • shorten the recovery time.

    It is the main method of treatment: after all, rotavirus infection is not eliminated by any of the medications.

    Basic rules for the diet of children with rotavirus

    1. To normalize digestion and prevent vomiting, you need to adhere to the fragmentation in nutrition: eat in tiny portions, but with a short time interval. Usually in the first day or two of the disease, patients have no appetite.
    2. If the child does not want to eat, you can not force him by force-feeding. As an alternative, you can offer permitted drinks (tea, jelly, decoctions).
    3. In no case should even a slight dehydration of the child's body be allowed. The diet should include plenty of fluids to compensate for the loss of water and essential minerals.
    4. Before normalization of the patient's condition, all products must be crushed, boiled well, steamed or baked, but without the formation of a rough crust.
    5. It is necessary to exclude from the child's diet all "dangerous" foods that can provoke the growth of infection. The diet should be based on healthy nutrition during this period.
    6. Children can be transferred to the common table only a week or two after full recovery.

    Prohibited foods (1-2 weeks after infection with the virus)

    In the acute period of the disease and during the entire stage of recovery, the diet requires the exclusion of such products:

    • milk (as an ideal breeding ground for infection);
    • fatty cheeses;
    • sugar, honey and any sweets;
    • black and rye bread, any fresh bread and muffin;
    • pasta and vermicelli, dough products (dumplings, dumplings, manti, dumplings, pancakes, etc.);
    • legumes (peas, lentils, beans);
    • raw vegetables, fruits (with the exception of banana) and berries;
    • fermented and pickled products;
    • rich and fatty broths on meat, fish or mushrooms, borscht, cabbage soup;
    • fatty meats, any sausage products;
    • fatty, salted or smoked fish and canned food from it;
    • coarse cereals - barley, millet, corn and pearl barley;
    • mushrooms;
    • fat;
    • chocolate, cocoa, coffee;
    • carbonated drinks;
    • any cold drinks and food.

    Diet: food composition

    After the child regains his appetite and the infection begins to recede, you can already offer him:

    • homemade crackers from the pulp of a white loaf;
    • drying, biscuit cookies;
    • rice, buckwheat, semolina, a little later - oatmeal on the water (without using butter or sugar);
    • fat-free broths to the maximum (vegetable, secondary on meat or fish);
    • soups with carefully boiled cereals and vegetables;
    • steam omelet or soft-boiled egg (but not more than 1 egg per day);
    • steam meat or fish soufflés, meatballs, quenelles and cutlets (from meat - chicken, turkey, from fish - hake, pollock, cod);
    • baked apples in the oven (non-acidic);
    • mashed carrots and potatoes boiled in water (without butter and milk);
    • pumpkin and squash puree - boiled and slightly salted (if there is no liquid stool);
    • mashed fresh cottage cheese (for 3-4 days);
    • fermented milk products such as acidophilus, activia, lactobacillin, bifidoc, etc. (for 3-4 days).

    During the treatment of rotavirus, it is very important to prevent dehydration of the child's body. Therefore, half of the entire diet will be liquid. The infection is well washed out not only with gas-free mineral water, but also with home-made drinks, teas, decoctions, jelly, etc.

    You need to drink often, but a little bit. At the very peak (the first few days), a solution of water and Regidron will be an ideal drink. Due to the specific taste of the drink, not all children agree to it. You can try to prepare such a solution according to a home recipe. It's simple:

    1 liter of warm water

    2 teaspoons of sugar,

    Mashed raisins are poured with water and boiled for about an hour. A well-cooled broth is filtered, the rest of the ingredients are added to it and boiled over low heat for another couple of minutes. Sometimes mint or chamomile tea is added to such a homemade drink.

    You can cook on your own for children:

    • unsweetened compotes (from dried berries and fruits);
    • jelly (from some homemade jam with cornstarch and water);
    • carrot-apple juice (the boiled ingredients are ground or crushed with a blender and diluted to a liquid state with warm boiled water with the addition of a small amount of sugar);
    • rice water;
    • weakly brewed tea;
    • decoctions of chamomile, mint, rose hips.

    If your baby is a baby

    If an infant who is breast-fed is ill, in no case should he be weaned at this time from the breast. Mom's milk consists of all the nutrients and immunoglobulins necessary for crumbs, which are the best way to help defeat rotavirus.

    During the period of exacerbation of the disease, additional complementary foods should not be introduced. If the baby eats artificial mixtures, he is temporarily transferred to dairy-free cereals and lactose-free mixtures.

    The diet for each child will be special: after all, babies often do not eat any food at all, or simply because of their young age they are not yet able to perceive any food. Parents should independently develop a menu for the child during the period of his illness and immediately after it. The basis for them will be the rules of nutrition, prohibited and permitted foods and drinks, and, of course, the taste preferences of the baby himself. Only in this way can the rotavirus infection be eradicated.

    What can a child eat with rotavirus infection

    Diet for rotavirus infection for adults and children

    A diet for rotavirus infection is an important step towards recovery, because it is during this period that the body suffers quite strongly, loses nutrients, vitamins and minerals. All this negatively affects the health of the patient.

    For information

    So, the pathogens of the virus penetrate the body and tend to get into the gastrointestinal tract, since it is there that they begin to actively manifest themselves. A person has an increased body temperature, vomiting and even diarrhea. Children are especially susceptible to infection. In most cases, the disease is not life-threatening: there are only 3-5% of cases of a severe form of the disease, the rest pass without a trace with proper treatment. Due to an imperfect immune system, children get sick more pronouncedly, but a special diet for rotavirus in children will help replenish all the substances and moisture the body needs.

    Can I breastfeed during this period? If the baby is sick while breastfeeding, then you should not change his usual diet during this period of time. Breast milk contains all the necessary nutrients that will help you cope with the disease faster. There is a huge amount of antibodies in milk, which are contained in a nursing mother, and it is they who help to quickly defeat the disease, strengthen the child's immunity.

    Breastfeeding with rotavirus should be done as often as possible, but in small portions. If the child refuses to eat according to this scheme, then you can breastfeed on demand. If during an illness a child has lactase deficiency, then it is imperative to give preparations containing enzymes, for example Creon, Lactazar. You can give medicines in a spoon, after mixing them with breast milk. As soon as the baby's stool normalizes, you can transfer it to a normal diet with the usual portions.

    If the baby is on artificial feeding, then you should not change the mixture, as the body may react poorly to changes. It is necessary to reduce portions and feeding time by about 2 times, so it will be easier for the body to cope with the load on the gastrointestinal tract. It is good to give the baby fermented milk mixtures that contain all the necessary substances to restore the digestive system. If the baby has already reached 6 months, then he can be given dairy-free cereals, it is best if it is rice porridge, which helps to bring the metabolism back to normal. If artificial feeding has been going on for a long time, then you can add vegetable broths after the cessation of loose stools, they will prevent constipation.

    Diet for children after 12 months

    What can you eat with this disease, the doctor will tell you. The diet after a rotavirus infection for children older than a year should be sparing, that is, food must be boiled, steamed and be sure to grind. It is better at this time to return to the puree-like consistency, as it is better absorbed by the body. It is forbidden to give the child products that accelerate peristalsis, cause the fermentation process, increase the secretion of gastric juice and bile. Fats and carbohydrates should be reduced by a quarter, but the protein found in meat and milk should be given according to the age norm. It is this substance that can protect the body from excessive loss of moisture.

    With a rotavirus infection in children, the body is greatly dried up, therefore Regidron is often prescribed by a pediatrician, which is able to compensate for the loss of vitamins and moisture. However, the medicine has a rather unpleasant taste that children do not always like. Instead, you can prepare your own home remedy.

    So, if you are concerned about rotavirus infection, a saline solution will work well. Preparing it is quite simple, for this you need to take 100 g of raisins and boil it in 1 liter of water for 60 minutes. Cool the broth and strain. Be sure to mash the raisins to release all the glucose from it. Next, add 1 tsp. salt and 2 tbsp. sugar, ½ tsp soda. Then boil and cool. It can be taken as an independent drink or together with herbal tea. After all the symptoms of rotavirus come to naught, you can safely make a decoction based on rice, carrots and apples, dry rose hips and blueberries. It is useful to eat baked apples, they help to cleanse the body.

    Diet after rotovirus should be sparing. It has a lot of prohibitions, and restorative decoctions form the basis. Their recipes are quite simple. Kids drink them with pleasure and gain strength.

    To prepare rice water, you need to take 2-4 tablespoons of cereals and boil them for 2 hours in plenty of water. After strain with a sieve, and grind the rice, then add a little salt. Cool the finished broth and take it inside instead of the usual drink.

    Nutrition after a rotavirus infection should be dietary, low-fat, mashed. Feed the child in small portions 5-6 times a day. The diet should be based on decoctions and dairy products, which should make up 60% of the total diet in children after 12 months and up to 3 years.

    Nutrition for rotavirus

    What to feed a child with rotavirus? Of course, balanced food, steamed or boiled. The body needs a lot of nutrients to recover. The main thing is to prevent dehydration of the body. To do this, it is good to give the child cooked decoctions and compotes. To restore the body after rotavirus, you need to eat little and drink plenty. Food should be introduced one after another: first, rice water, then cereals, vegetables, meat, broths, fruits.

    It is necessary to introduce vegetables and fruits in cooked form, it is best to boil or bake them. It is useful to eat baked pears and apples.

    The menu should be quite strict, but at the same time balanced. On the second day of the disease, feeding should be carried out according to a sparing regimen. The menu could be:

    Breakfast: you can choose from a steam milk omelette, non-acidic cottage cheese, semolina or rice porridge without milk, crackers.

    Lunch: secondary broth of chicken or beef with boiled vegetables and cereals. For the second, you can cook steamed fish meatballs and a rosehip broth.

    Dinner: steamed fish or meat cutlet, buckwheat porridge or carrot puree.

    As a treat, you can cook baked apples, you can add cottage cheese or a drop of honey to them.

    Throughout the healing process, it is better to replace fresh bread with toasted bread. You can make your own crackers. To do this, you need to take the crusts from a white loaf and dry them in the oven. You can return to the usual diet only after the child's health improves significantly, and vomiting and diarrhea completely stop.

    Feeding should consist only of well-cooked, baked or steam foods. Be sure to consume dairy products that will help maintain a healthy intestinal microflora. Instead of sweets, it is allowed to eat cherry, apple or apricot plast marmalade. This is all that you can eat during treatment. Other products can harm the body.

    Food bans

    Rotavirus and HB can be combined, even necessary. At this time, the mother can follow a nursing diet and not be afraid to harm the baby. No harmful substances will penetrate into the milk. Moreover, it tends to adapt to the condition of the child, it can be moderately fatty and easily digestible. Breast milk should be a priority if the baby has already tried complementary foods. At the time of the disease, it is better to completely remove it and leave only the chest.

    A number of products fall under the ban, you need to be especially careful about this if the child is already eating from a common table.

    In the first 2-3 weeks, the following fall under a complete ban:

    For all the time, sweets, fresh fruits and berries, dried fruits should be excluded from the diet. You can not eat fatty fish and meat. All spicy vegetables should also be excluded, these include garlic, peppers, horseradish, onions, radishes and radishes. In the first week, it is allowed to give secondary broths, mashed boiled meat, meat and fish soufflé. It is worth giving the baby water with fresh decoctions or green tea, preferably unpackaged and unflavored.

    After the list of prohibited foods can be slowly reduced, introduced into the diet of solid and unground food. Lastly, add fruits and juices. It is better to dilute the juice with water so as not to injure the gastrointestinal mucosa. Food should be prepared immediately before eating. It is forbidden to feed the child from the public catering to prevent complications.

    After recovery, you should stick to the diet for 30 days. A strict diet and soldering a child during an illness are the main criteria on the way to recovery. If you do not take the recommendations of a specialist properly, you can get complications. A child's fragile body tolerates diseases much worse than an adult. This is due to a weak immune system and the immaturity of many organs. The entire treatment process should be under the supervision of a pediatrician.

    Diet for rotavirus infection in a child

    Rotaviruses are a separate genus of viruses belonging to the Reoviridae family. Rotaviruses seek to enter the lining of the gastrointestinal tract, where they infect it and cause symptoms such as fever, vomiting, and diarrhea. Rotavirus infection in a child is most acute, since the immune system in children is imperfect. The diet for rotavirus infection compensates for the lack of moisture in the body and provides the nutrients necessary for recovery.

    Rotavirus infection greatly dries up the body, so the patient is often prescribed rehydron, which compensates for the loss of mineral elements and moisture. This drug, which is supplied in the form of a solution, is very undesirable for children to drink, so very often self-prepared funds come to the rescue.

    homemade saline solution recipe

    100 grams of raisins must be boiled in a liter of water for one hour, after which the broth must be allowed to cool and strain it. At the same time, it is necessary to knead the raisins so that the glucose that it contains is completely converted into a solution. In the resulting solution, add a spoonful of table salt, four tablespoons of granulated sugar and half a spoonful of drinking soda. After that, the solution is boiled for a couple of minutes and cooled. The finished product can be diluted with tea from pharmacies, such as chamomile or peppermint, or can be used without additives.

    Over time, when the symptoms of the disease begin to subside, you can smoothly switch to a decoction based on rice, as well as on a mixture of carrots and apples. Baked apples and decoctions based on dry blueberries and rose hips will also be of great benefit, since they contain pectin substances that help cleanse the body.

    rice water recipe

    It is necessary to bring a liter of water to a boil and pour 2-4 tablespoons of rice into it, then cook for about two hours until the cereal is completely softened. After that, the rice must be rubbed through a sieve and add half a spoonful of soda and two-thirds of a spoonful of salt. The finished broth is poured into sterile bottles, then it must be allowed to cool and placed in the refrigerator. Before use, flocks need to be shaken and warmed up a little.

    Carrot-Apple Mix Recipe

    In order to prepare a carrot-apple mixture, you need to take 500 grams of carrots and apples, peel them and cook until completely softened in a liter of water. Next, they need to be rubbed through a fine sieve and add 5 tablespoons of sugar, then bring to a boil again and pour into sterile bottles. The mixture is shaken before use and slightly heated.

    dried blueberry compote recipe

    A liter of water is brought to a boil, after which 2-3 tablespoons of dried blueberries are added to it and boiled until the berries soften completely. Next, the berries should be rubbed through a sieve, after which 35 grams of sugar pestle should be added to them and mixed well.

    Nutrition for rotavirus infection

    The diet for rotavirus infection in a child on the second day of the disease suggests switching to a sparing diet that has the following menu:

    • Breakfast: steamed scrambled eggs or homemade non-acidic cottage cheese, semolina, rice or buckwheat porridge in water, vegetable broth or broth, as well as tea with white bread crackers
    • Lunch: low-fat chicken or meat soup with well-cooked vegetables or cereals, as well as steamed fish or meat meatballs and rosehip-based broth
    • Dinner: steamed fish cake and boiled buckwheat porridge or carrot puree
    • Snacks: baked apples

    The diet for rotavirus infection in a child prohibits eating bread at the onset of the disease, but you can use crackers from a white loaf instead. To prepare such crackers, white loaf crusts are used, which must be cut and dried in the oven. You can switch to normal nutrition only when the stool normalizes and the child feels better.

    During the diet period, all foods should be served to the child in a well-baked or boiled form. Sour-milk products must be present in the diet, as they contain beneficial bacteria that speed up recovery. It is allowed to serve cherry, apple or apricot layered marmalade with tea. All other sweets during the first two weeks of dieting should be excluded.

    For the first 2-3 weeks, you must abandon the following products:

    • Cold temperature drinks
    • sauerkraut
    • Legumes
    • Cucumbers and beets
    • Whole milk
    • Rye bread
    • Ice cream
    • Millet

    A diet for rotavirus infection in a child contributes to a speedy recovery without complications.

    Diet for rotavirus infection

    General rules

    In the structure of acute intestinal diseases (AII), especially in the epidemic autumn-spring period, up to 80% of cases of all diseases are due to rotavirus infection (rotavirus gastroenteritis). Children under 5 years of age are most often ill, in whom, due to the anatomical and physiological characteristics of the gastrointestinal tract and the immaturity of immune defense factors, there is a high susceptibility to the causative agent of rotavirus infection (RNA-rotavirus).

    The disease with rotavirus occurs with symptoms of gastrointestinal lesions - vomiting and loose stools (from 5 to 20 times / day), accompanied by varying degrees of dehydration, intoxication (temperature rise to 38-39 ° C, drowsiness, weakness, lethargy, headache, loss appetite). Later (respiratory wave of the disease) redness and sore throat, runny nose and weak dry cough join. In adults, the manifestations of rotavirus infection (RVI) are more blurred, and in some cases the disease is asymptomatic.

    The leading component of the treatment of patients with rotavirus infection, and especially children, is therapeutic nutrition. The diet for rotavirus infection, both in children and adults, is aimed at:

    • Ensuring the physiological needs of the body in food macro / micronutrients.
    • Prevention of fluid loss and body weight.
    • Decrease in toxicity.
    • Reduction of the inflammatory process in the gastrointestinal tract.
    • Normalization of intestinal function and digestion processes, normalization of intestinal microflora.

    The main principles of the diet for RVI are:

    • Decrease in the first days of the disease of the total volume of the daily diet by 15-50% of the physiological norm.
    • Providing the body with a physiologically normal protein content while limiting fats, carbohydrates, salt and the total calorie content of the diet.
    • Ensuring sparing of the digestive tract from mechanical / chemical irritants.
    • Food should be varied in taste and easily digestible, consumed warm (35-38 ° C), fractionally (5-6 times / day).
    • Food is boiled, steamed and pureed/mashed.
    • The diet includes low / lactose-free foods, as well as sour-milk drinks enriched with bifidus / lactobacilli.

    Of particular importance is a properly composed diet for rotavirus infection in children.

    It is the properly organized nutrition of children with ARVI that is the most important condition for a relatively mild course of the disease and a quick recovery. At the same time, inadequate nutrition and violation of the drinking regimen, as well as prolonged dietary restrictions, can worsen the child's condition. It is important not to forget that it is always necessary to strive for a diet that provides physiologically complete nutrition, taking into account the functional state of the gastrointestinal tract and the age of the child.

    The volume and composition of dietary nutrition is largely determined by the age of the child, the severity of the general condition, the severity and type of diarrheal syndrome.

    With regard to unloading in nutrition, in mild forms on the first day of treatment, the daily diet is reduced by 15-20% of the daily age norm, with moderate forms - by 20-30%, severe - by 30-50%. The difference in the amount of food should be compensated by the use of fluids. For infants, especially with severe diarrhea and the presence of frequent vomiting, it is necessary to switch to dosed feeding with a mandatory 6-hour night break. In the presence of positive dynamics, the volume of a single feeding, starting from the second day, increases daily by nml, and the intervals between feedings lengthen.

    However, already on the third - fifth day of unloading, the child's nutrition should be brought to the age norm. In children older than three years, unloading in nutrition on the first day is recommended to be carried out with kefir at the rate of every 4 hours. In older children and adults in the early days, there is practically no appetite. You can not force-feed the child during this period. It is better to offer low-fat chicken broth, rather strong unsweetened tea. In the acute period, rice porridge is very useful, cooked in liquid form in water without the addition of butter, salt and sugar, which has a bonding and enveloping effect.

    To reduce vomiting and normalize digestion, food and drink should be given fractionally in small portions with a short interval. In order to prevent dehydration, it is necessary to offer the child clean boiled water / saline solution for rehydration (Rehydron). At the same time, children under 2 years of age should consume ml of fluid after each episode of diarrhea, and older children - ml. After each case of vomiting, after 10 minutes, the child should be offered a drink, which should be consumed slowly, in small sips.

    At elevated temperature for children under 3 years old, the volume of free fluid is 150 ml / kg of body weight, and over 3 years old - 80 ml / kg. As a liquid, weak green tea and herbal teas based on chamomile, linden, sage, rosehip broth, blueberries / raspberries, still table water, dried fruit compote can be recommended. To accelerate the absorption of fluid, its temperature should be close to body temperature.

    With severe dehydration and intoxication, hospitalization and the use of enterosorbents (Smecta, Polysorb), antidiarrheal drugs (Probifor, Enterol, Bifiform, Bifistim) and drugs that regulate water and electrolyte balance (Human electrolyte, Regidron) are necessary.

    For children who refuse to drink Regidron, a variant of a home water-volitional solution can be recommended. Its composition (per 1 liter of boiled water) includes: table salt (1 teaspoon), soda (5 teaspoons), sugar (3-4 teaspoons) and 100 g of raisins. Preparation is extremely simple: raisins are poured with water and boiled for an hour, filtered after mashing the berries. Add the rest of the ingredients, boil on low heat for another 2 minutes and cool.

    In the acute period of the disease, all foods / dishes that stimulate intestinal motility and enhance the processes of decay / fermentation in the intestine should be excluded from the diet - pure butter and vegetable oil, raw vegetables, sour, sauerkraut, radishes, plums, pears.

    The following are excluded from the diet: barley, wheat and barley porridge, concentrated meat / fish broths, fatty meat and fish (goose, duck, pork, salmon), sausages, legumes, canned food, sweet carbonated drinks, whole milk, black bread, carbonated table water. Fresh white bread, muffins, pasta, onions, garlic, radishes, white cabbage, radishes, cucumbers, cocoa, chocolate are also excluded.

    Restrictions are imposed until the frequency and nature of the stool is normalized. The salt content in the diet depends on the severity of diarrhea and fluid loss in the body. With a slight loss of fluid, the salt content in the diet can be limited to 8-10 g / day, and with severe dehydration, salt intake should be increased to dog / day.

    In the acute period of the disease, the diet should contain fermented milk products (acidophilic mixtures, low-fat kefir) containing lacto / bifidobacteria, which improve digestion, stimulate the motor and secretory functions of the intestine, improve the absorption of fats and calcium salts, and have a bactericidal effect on conditionally pathogenic microflora .

    For children, they can be used in full (Nutrilon, Tuttel, Frisolak) and partially adapted infant formulas (Baby, Vitalakt), but preference should be given to probiotic therapeutic and prophylactic products - Bifikefir, Laktofidus, Biolact, Atsidolact, Bifilakt. The bifidus/lactobacilli included in their composition normalize the intestinal microbiocenosis, preventing the progression of dysbacteriosis, have an immunomodulatory effect, and participate in digestion.

    In the presence of "fermentative dyspepsia" and severe flatulence, it is recommended to include low-lactose / lactose-free foods or specialized infant formulas with nucleotides (Similak, Frisolak, Enfamil) in the diet.

    Nutrition after reducing intoxication and improving appetite expands: low-fat fish, meat (turkey, rabbit, beef in the form of cutlets, meatballs), freshly grated cottage cheese, steam omelet and egg yolk are introduced into the menu. Crackers from white bread, slimy cereal soups with boiled noodles in non-concentrated chicken broth, porridges (with the exception of pearl barley / millet) in milk diluted with water are allowed.

    Of particular importance in the nutrition of children are products containing pectin, calcium and magnesium salts (vegetables and fruits - carrots, apples and bananas), prepared in the form of puree, which do not cause side effects and are easily absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract.

    Pectin binds well the water in the intestinal lumen, and the resulting colloidal mass, moving through the intestines, adsorbs undigested food residues, microorganisms and their metabolic products. In addition, under the influence of an acidic environment, calcium is cleaved from the pectin structure, which has an anti-inflammatory effect on the intestinal mucosa. The bactericidal effect is also important, which is the effect of organic acids contained in vegetables / fruits, as well as tannic properties that have an astringent effect and have a detrimental effect on pathogenic microflora. Apples are recommended to be given in a baked form. It is useful to include in the diet lemons and pomegranates, black currants, cherries, blueberries, which have an astringent effect, and their freshly prepared juices.

    Diet after rotavirus infection should continue for at least 2-3 weeks after the end of the acute period, and in severe form - 2-3 months. The diet of children and adults with a weakened digestive system after rotavirus should remain moderately sparing for several months and exclude aggressive foods (fatty and fried foods, smoked meats, confectionery, ice cream, marinades, acidic foods, alcohol-containing and carbonated drinks, foods containing fiber /essential oils, strong broths, spices, onion, radish, coffee, radish, chocolate). It is useful to take tablets of a vitamin-mineral complex.

    Indications

    Rotavirus infection (rotavirus gastroenteritis) in adults and children.
