To avoid getting sick at sea. Is it possible to get poisoned by sea water? Prevention of intestinal infections on the Black Sea

How to protect yourself from rotavirus infection at sea worries many people who are planning a trip with children.

All people encounter bacterial or viral infections during their lives.

But a disease that occurs in an adult or child on vacation is especially dangerous, since medical assistance may be provided with a delay.

A special feature of rotavirus infection is a person’s ability to develop immunity to it, so it can only be re-infected with severe health problems.

General characteristics of rotavirus

Rotavirus infection is a serious disease that affects the gastrointestinal tract. Rotavirus infection mainly affects children under 3 years of age.

The severity of rotavirus infection depends on the person’s health status. In nature, the causative agents of this disease are widespread.

Moreover, the virus is able to mutate, affecting an increasing number of people, since the developed immunity to one strain does not affect another.

You can understand that a person could have become infected with rotavirus infection by certain symptoms:

  • deterioration or loss of appetite;
  • the occurrence of vomiting and diarrhea;
  • pain in the abdomen;
  • body heat.

Rotavirus infection has a certain difference from other gastrointestinal infections - it is catarrhal syndrome.

In humans, in addition to the main signs of the disease, nasal congestion, cough, and inflammation of the laryngeal mucosa are observed.

Against the background of repeated exhausting vomiting, loose stools and fever with increased sweating, a patient with rotavirus infection very quickly loses large volumes of fluid.

He becomes lethargic, weakened, small children become capricious. This condition is very dangerous for people; dehydration should be avoided if possible.

Features of the body (lack of weight, chronic diseases, serious illnesses suffered in the near past) can lead to complications in the course of rotavirus infection.

Such cases require immediate hospitalization in the infectious diseases department.

More often children have to be admitted to the hospital with this disease, because due to their fragile immunity and thin gastrointestinal mucosa with low acidity of gastric juice, rotavirus infection in them is difficult to treat.

You can become infected with rotavirus infection at home and at sea. The main ways the virus enters the body:

  • fecal-oral route - infection occurs due to dirty hands, eating unwashed foods, unboiled water;
  • airborne droplets - coughing or sneezing contributes to the spread of sputum and saliva several meters around the patient.

If a person sick with rotavirus infection has vomiting and diarrhea, then before the ambulance arrives, he must be given plenty of fluids.

If fever accompanies the disease, you can give Ibuprofen or another antipyretic drug.

For soldering, you can make a special solution: dilute one sachet of Regidron in a liter of boiled water and give it one spoon every 5 minutes.

If children refuse salt water, then they can be given mineral water, after removing the gas from it.

To do this, you need to pour mineral water into a saucepan, place it on a divider placed over low heat, and stir slowly.

If vomiting persists, you can inject an antiemetic drug prescribed by your doctor. Gradually, the loss of fluid through vomit will stop.

How to avoid getting rotavirus while on vacation?

During the holidays, people rush to relax in the mountains or at the sea. But this is where you can become infected with rotavirus infection.

To prevent illness, you can take with you to sea a first aid kit equipped with antidiarrheal and antimicrobial drugs.

Prevention of rotavirus infection is especially important - we must not forget about the rules of personal hygiene and sanitation.

All parents are interested in what measures need to be taken at sea to protect themselves and their children from illness or the possibility of becoming infected with rotavirus infection again.

In fact, it is very difficult to protect people from the disease, especially during a holiday at sea.

Compliance with sanitary and hygienic requirements does not guarantee that infection with rotavirus infection will not occur.

This virus is very resistant to detergents and temperature changes. People who have recovered from rotavirus infection can still be carriers of the virus for another month.

When trying to protect family members from contracting rotavirus infection, it is necessary to understand that prevention is of great importance.

The current way to prevent the disease is a vaccine. It does not pose any danger to humans and does not have a negative effect on the body.

Vaccination is carried out by instilling a solution into the mouth.

But during a holiday at sea, it is necessary to reduce the risk of contracting rotavirus infection.

When planning a vacation, it is advisable to undergo a course of rehabilitation therapy for existing chronic diseases in advance, especially for gastrointestinal diseases.

At sea you must do the following:

  • drink boiled water and milk;
  • eat only fresh and high-quality food;
  • sterilize dishes from which babies are fed;
  • wash food well with running water;
  • wash your hands after going outside and using the toilet;
  • take disinfectants with you to the beach - wipes, gels;
  • Wash and clean toys regularly.

When swimming in the sea, you need to close your mouth so as not to swallow water. It is also better not to dive, because water can enter the stomach through the nose.

You should not buy food from pass-by distributors or local markets if it is stored outside of refrigerators.

It is necessary to ensure that children do not play with other people's toys. It is advisable to swim in the sea when there are not too many people or choose uncrowded places.

For preventive purposes, it is necessary to regularly wet clean the room, wash toys, treat household items and ventilate the room.

Compliance with all the listed rules (vaccination, cleaning of premises, following personal hygiene rules) will help reduce the risk of contracting rotavirus infection at sea.

Order of progression and drug therapy

A person sick with rotavirus infection wakes up in the morning tired and lethargic, and vomiting is possible. Appetite disappears, and small amounts of food provoke new vomiting.

These symptoms include fever (39 degrees), lasting up to five days, and diarrhea. In this situation, it is necessary to remove all dairy products from the diet.

To replenish the amount of ions in the blood, you need to prepare a Regidron solution (dissolve 1 sachet in 1 liter of boiled water).

Large portions of liquid can cause vomiting, so it is necessary to drink 50 ml per hour. For the first 2-3 days you must follow a diet: porridge with water, chicken broth, jelly and compotes.

If the temperature rises above 38 degrees, then it needs to be lowered. Cefekon, Ibuprofen, Aspirin, Brufen suppositories are suitable for this.

Before use, you must carefully study the instructions for the medicine. But there is no need to reduce the fever below 38 degrees, since rotavirus infection dies at these temperature parameters.

In some cases, wiping with a wet towel soaked in vinegar solution can be effective. The entire body should be wiped; there is no need to wrap the patient up after the procedure.

To reduce pain in the abdominal cavity, you can use No-shpa, preferably in the form of intramuscular injections.

To stop the development of accompanying pathogenic bacteria, Enterofuril or Enterol is used. The dosage is selected according to the instructions.

To relieve diarrhea caused by rotavirus infection, use Smecta (2 sachets per 0.5 glass of water). Vomiting and diarrhea with this disease may not go away for 3 to 6 days.

To quickly restore the optimal ratio of gastrointestinal microflora and normalize stool, use Bactisubtil, dosage instructions: dissolve 1 capsule in 0.5 glasses of water and drink 1 hour before meals, 2 times a day. The drug should be used after the attacks of vomiting have subsided.

A patient with rotavirus infection constantly feels sleepy; there is no need to disturb him. But it is necessary to ensure that the sick person receives a sufficient amount of fluid.

Before using medications, as well as for accurate diagnosis of the disease, it is necessary to call a doctor at home. He will prescribe the necessary course of treatment.

You should not self-diagnose because the symptoms of the disease may be similar to those of other serious illnesses that require immediate medical attention.

Preventive measures include compliance with sanitary and hygienic rules and isolation of the patient.

In what places is rotavirus infection found, where, can you get infected and how to protect your child? The virus has many ways of spreading, the main one being oral-fecal, sometimes airborne. The causative agent of infection is found in water, soil, household and personal items, as well as on unwashed vegetables and fruits. Rotavirus is not afraid of temperature changes and cold weather, so a child can become infected at any time of the year. However, as practice shows, most often a child picks up an infection on vacation, near the sea.

Does your child get sick often?

your child constantly sick?
A week in kindergarten (school), two weeks at home on sick leave?

Many factors are to blame for this. From bad ecology to weakening the immune system with ANTI-VIRAL DRUGS!
Yes, yes, you heard right! By feeding your child powerful synthetic drugs, you sometimes cause more harm to the little organism.

In order to radically change the situation, it is necessary not to destroy the immune system, but to HELP IT...

Rotavirus: the effect of infection

A viral infection can seriously ruin the holiday experience, especially for a child. As a rule, the infection affects the body quite harshly, causing a number of unpleasant symptoms. Once in the child's body, the infection goes through an incubation period, in most cases short - 1-2 days. After this time, parents may observe the following signs of the disease:

  • an infectious child complains of nausea and vomiting;
  • change in bowel movements - diarrhea;
  • discomfort, colic in the intestines;
  • weakness, increased body temperature, lack of appetite.

The main localization of pathogenic microorganisms is the upper parts of the small intestine. The virus infects intestinal cells, thereby provoking the development of a pathological process.

Prevention of rotavirus

Almost everyone suffers rotavirus infection at an early age; due to this, immunity to the pathogen cells is developed and re-infection with the virus occurs without pronounced symptoms. Children under the age of 5-6 years have a more vulnerable immune system, so rotavirus infection, both primary and repeated, is more difficult to tolerate.

The most unpleasant problem that arises against the background of rotavirus is disruption of the intestines, the recovery of which takes a long time. Preventive measures regarding rotavirus infection are not complicated and mainly concern compliance with personal hygiene rules.

Preliminary preventive measures

In order for the virus to settle in the child’s intestines and begin its pathological process, it needs to enter the body through the oral cavity. As a rule, this occurs with the help of dirty hands, household items and through food, for example, fresh, poorly washed fruit. To select the most effective preventive measures, it is necessary to consider various situations.

Initial preventative measures

On vacation, the main place of infection with rotavirus is the sea. Therefore, the child needs to be protected by clearly explaining that during bathing it is necessary to prevent ingestion of sea water, and if this happens, inform the parents as soon as possible. Next, you need to carry out emergency prevention, the methods of which will be described below.

The next route of infection is drinking untreated water (from the tap) and eating poorly processed fruits/vegetables. Fruits and vegetables must be thoroughly washed and then doused with boiling water.

Why is my child's immune system weakened?

Many people are familiar with these situations:

  • As soon as the cold season begins - your child is bound to get sick, and then the whole family...
  • It seems that you buy expensive drugs, but they only work while you drink them, and after a week or two baby gets sick again...
  • Are you worried that your child's immune system is weak, very often illnesses take precedence over health...
  • You are afraid of every sneeze or cough...

    It is necessary to strengthen YOUR CHILD'S IMMUNITY!

Next, you need to pay attention to the bed linen, because as a rule, when parents and children come on vacation, they rent hotel rooms. Unfortunately, not all hotels use linen disinfection methods, so it is better to take your own kit.

What else you need to know about rotaravirus infection is a disease of “dirty hands,” so teach your child to wash them thoroughly after going outside. It would be a good idea to use antibacterial agents (gels, wipes), especially after swimming in the sea or playing with sand.

Basic rules for protecting a child from rotavirus

You can talk about preventive measures to protect against rotavirus for quite a long time. Therefore, experts have identified a number of rules that must be followed while on vacation with a child in order to avoid getting sick:

  • try not to dive headlong into the water to prevent it from being swallowed;
  • after contact with the sea, sand, outerwear (swimsuit/swimming trunks), wash your hands thoroughly with soap and apply an antibacterial agent;
  • use your own set of linen or carefully steam the provided one;
  • Remind your child about hygiene rules as often as possible and keep his hands clean.

By adhering to these simple rules, the risks of contracting an infection are significantly reduced, but are not completely eliminated. For this reason, parents need to know about emergency prevention methods to prevent the development of unpleasant symptoms.

Emergency prevention of rotavirus

Prevention of the emergency nature of rotavirus infection at sea consists of stopping the further development of the pathogen in the child’s body. As a rule, immunostimulating drugs are prescribed to increase the protective functions of the immune system in the fight against the virus. It is not recommended to prescribe medications to your child on your own, but if you are unable to see a doctor, you can use available medications - Linex or Nifuroxazide.

Do not forget that rotavirus provokes severe defecation disorders, namely diarrhea. To eliminate this symptom, it is necessary to take sorbents, for example, Smecta and solutions to restore the water-salt balance in the body - Regidron.

Prevention and treatment of infection at sea

The most effective method of preventing rotavirus infection in children is vaccination. Today there are several types of vaccines:

  1. RV1 (administered 2 times);
  2. PB5 (administered 3 times).

The first dose of the drug should be started as early as possible, the recommended age of the child is 6 weeks. The drug is then administered after 16 weeks.

Vaccination enhances the protective functions of the immune system, which allows one to avoid infection, completely or reduce symptoms to a minimum.

The first type of vaccine is highly effective against type A virus, the second protects against several. Vaccine preparations are produced in the form of drops, so they are easy to use for children of any age. The Ministry of Health rates the effectiveness of these funds quite highly. According to medical studies, vaccination protects a child by 75% from infection and by 92% from the development of severe symptoms.

Vaccination of a child is the main form of prevention; compared to other methods, it guarantees the highest percentage of protection.

A sharp change in climate, for example, on the Black Sea, can negatively affect a child’s body, therefore, even if vaccinated, you should take care of the following nuances:

  • in the first days of rest, the child’s exposure to water and sun should be minimal;
  • pay attention to nutrition, give your child only bottled water;
  • do not change the baby’s diet, exclude the consumption of foods that are not familiar to him, thus preventing disruptions in intestinal function;
  • at sea, avoid eating dairy products, they increase the risk of rotavirus infection;
  • Before your trip, contact your pediatrician; a specialist will help you choose the necessary medications for the trip.

Treatment for rotavirus infection is symptomatic. To date, no single drug has been developed that can fight this infection.

The main treatment for rotavirus infection in children

If the infection takes you by surprise, how to treat it? As mentioned above, treatment of infection is symptomatic, since there is no drug whose action is aimed solely at stopping the virus. Therapeutic methods are aimed at eliminating intestinal dysfunction, stopping vomiting and normalizing stool.

If intoxication of the body develops, under no circumstances should you give your child dairy and fermented milk products. It is they who will provoke even greater development of the pathological process.

During the period of exacerbation of the infection, the child’s appetite decreases or disappears altogether. Do not force your child to eat; limit the diet to homemade jelly or light chicken broth. Food portions should be as small as possible to prevent the gag reflex.

As mentioned above, rotavirus infection should be treated with sorbent preparations (activated carbon, Attapulgite), as well as rehydration agents. The rehydron drug is dissolved in 500 ml of water and given to the child 50 ml every hour for 24 hours.

Reducing the temperature during rotavirus

Rotavirus infection is almost always accompanied by an increase in core body temperature, on average up to 38 degrees. If the child tolerates this symptom satisfactorily, there is no need to resort to antipyretics. When the temperature rises to 39 degrees, doctors recommend Cefekon suppositories, suitable for children under 3 years of age. For older patients, Paracetamol is allowed, dosing according to the instructions. In some cases, when the temperature cannot be brought down to an acceptable level, it is possible to use Paracetamol with Analgin (a quarter of a tablet).

In addition to drug treatment, wet wipes with vodka or vinegar solution are added. The solutions must be applied to the child’s entire body, avoiding temperature changes between areas of the skin.

The drug Enterofuril has a good therapeutic effect. The product actively fights gastrointestinal dysfunction and stabilizes body temperature. If necessary, you can replace it with Enterol.

When a rotavirus infection is accompanied by pain in the gastrointestinal tract, the child is given 1 ml of No-shpa solution, first diluted with a teaspoon of water or tea.

Rotavirus infection is accompanied by a violation of the intestinal microflora. After the main treatment, you will need a course of drugs that eliminate dysbiosis. The following drugs are allowed for the treatment of childhood dysbiosis: Hilak forte, Linex, Normobact (allowed for infants).

This might be interesting:

If a child is constantly sick, his immune system DOES NOT WORK!

The human immune system is designed to resist viruses and bacteria. In babies, it is not yet fully formed and does not work to its full potential. And then parents “finish off” the immune system with antiviral drugs, teaching it to a relaxed state. Poor ecology and the widespread distribution of different strains of the influenza virus also contribute. It is necessary to strengthen and pump up the immune system and this must be done IMMEDIATELY!

Diseases caused by an intestinal infection entering a child's body can greatly affect the child's immune system and lead to serious consequences. The main causes of infection are poor quality water and food, as well as household contact. Pediatricians consider the most dangerous period to be the summer, when various bacteria, viruses and protozoan microorganisms, which are the main causative agents of intestinal infections, are most active. To protect the child from the entry of various pathogenic microelements into the intestines, parents need to regularly carry out a set of preventive measures.

The causative agents of intestinal infections have their own preferences in products. Thus, salmonella in most cases enters the body through eggs, meat and milk. The dysentery bacillus lives on vegetables and fruits, and Vibrio cholerae lives in drinking water.

Basic preventive measures

Parents should teach their child to observe the rules of personal hygiene from an early age. The child must understand that hands should be washed thoroughly before each meal, as well as after visiting the toilet and when returning home from the street. It is necessary to ensure that children do not suck their fingers and toys, and do not drink water from other people's bottles. All food, especially in summer, should be fresh and utensils sterile.

When you come home from the street, you must wash your hands

When breastfeeding a baby, the mother must control the sterility of the process. If a child eats adult food, then it is necessary to take into account the peculiarities of its storage, preparation and serving. Mandatory heat treatment of fish, meat and all dairy products should be carried out. Fresh fruits and vegetables must be washed thoroughly under running water, preferably pouring boiling water over them. Under no circumstances should prepared foods come into contact with flies and insects.

Very often, the cause of intestinal infections is poor-quality drinking water. It is better if the child drinks mineral or bottled water purchased from trusted manufacturers. Tap water must be boiled. You should not buy cakes and other creamy treats for your baby in the summer, as they often become the cause of intestinal diseases.

A child who attends kindergarten should be taught to use only his own towel, comb and other personal belongings. If there is a sick person in the family, the baby must be completely isolated from contact with him, and all common objects must be thoroughly disinfected. Door handles, toys and other household items should be regularly treated with special antiseptics. Ventilate all rooms daily, do not walk around the house in outdoor shoes.

Before eating food, it must be thoroughly disinfected.

Prevention on the road and on vacation

In the summer, many parents want to take their kids to the sea, and in order not to ruin their vacation, they should be vigilant while on the road and prevent intestinal infections. It is recommended to give the child activated charcoal, enterosgel or any other immuno-strengthening drugs during the trip. Children on the road should be fed only with fresh, non-perishable foods and given high-quality purchased water.

It is recommended to give your child activated charcoal during the trip.

The immune system of an adult is capable of independently coping with a small number of harmful microorganisms, but if we are talking about their colonies, then the body simply cannot do without external help.

It should be explained to the child that sea water should not get into the mouth. After being on the beach, playing in the sand and visiting crowded places, you should thoroughly wash your baby’s hands and face. You should switch to new products gradually, and at the slightest suspicion of their staleness, refrain from consuming them. You should not buy food on the beach or street, or at the market.

Taking all these preventive measures will help reduce the risk of intestinal infection entering the child's body. Of course, it is impossible to insure against everything, but even taking basic measures to prevent diseases increases the chances of avoiding them. If there is the slightest suspicion of an intestinal infection in a child, you should not self-medicate. It is necessary to call a doctor as quickly as possible, who can correctly diagnose and prescribe a course of treatment.

Intestinal infection on the Black Sea coast: prevention, causes and treatment

Over the past few years, in the media you can find unflattering reviews from people vacationing on the Black Sea. The reason for such conversations is considered to be the incidence of intestinal infections among tourists. Is it really? It is possible that this information is false and is being disseminated in order to reduce the number of vacationers on the coast. Otherwise, spending your holidays in famous Black Sea resorts is dangerous. Journalists and tourists who were poisoned are trying to find out what the situation really is.

Incidence of intestinal infections in the Black Sea

Information that intestinal infection occurs among many vacationers on the Black Sea coast appeared in 2012. Since then, such a rumor has spread more and more every year. The presence of foci of infection in this area is indeed a big problem not only for vacationing tourists, but also threatens the health of local residents and affects the profits of resort area owners.

Everyone knows that the Black Sea has always been considered a wonderful place to relax. The favorable climate and various amenities for tourists attract not only residents of Russia and Ukraine, but also people from other countries. In addition to recreation areas, there are many resorts and sanatoriums on the Black Sea coasts. They are intended for people with chronic diseases. Therefore, an outbreak of intestinal infections on the Black Sea coast is a large-scale problem. Nevertheless, it cannot remain unresolved, because not only resort owners, but also government authorities are interested in this.

Information about outbreaks of infections in the Black Sea: truth or myth?

The fact that an intestinal infection has appeared on the Black Sea coast is evidenced by many reviews from people. Most of the complaints come from tourists who returned after a vacation and were dissatisfied with the situation. Some of them even conducted their own investigation and collected information from the head of the infectious diseases hospital and local governing bodies. However, people did not receive a reliable answer. Complaints about infection with infectious pathologies frighten others who want to relax on the Black Sea. This has a significant impact on the country's economy.

Despite cases of infection, there is no official confirmation of such information. Doctors say that infectious diseases are normal during the summer. Moreover, if you consider the number of vegetables and fruits sold at resorts. In addition, many are admitted to the hospital with ordinary poisoning. No one is immune from such cases, regardless of where the person is: on vacation or at home.

Despite this, people planning a vacation often ask themselves the question: where on the Black Sea coast is there no intestinal infection? Indeed, this topic is quite relevant. Especially if the intestinal infection is associated with bacteria found in sea water. There is no confirmation of such information at the moment. But, if this turns out to be true, the owners of recreation areas will suffer great losses, and swimming in the sea will become dangerous to health.

What infections occur on vacation?

Intestinal infection on the Black Sea coast can be different. Especially if the reason for its development is not related to water contamination. The most common intestinal pathologies encountered on vacation in this region are food poisoning and diseases whose pathogens live in the sea. At the same time, people can become infected both while swimming and by eating fish from this reservoir. The following types of infectious diseases are distinguished:

All these diseases belong to acute gastrointestinal pathologies. In addition, when eating sea fish, you can get a specific infection - opisthorchiasis. This disease has a detrimental effect on the cells of the liver and bile ducts.

Reasons for the development of intestinal infections during rest

Despite the fact that intestinal infection occurs on the Black Sea coast, its cause does not always lie in poor water quality. After all, pathogens can be anywhere. As a doctor at an infectious diseases hospital located in one of the Black Sea resort towns explains, most often patients come to the clinic with simple food poisoning. In this case, we cannot talk about contamination of sea water. Bacteria and viruses multiply in vegetables and fruits, eggs, and poor quality meat. Transmission and spread of infection from sick people to healthy tourists is also possible. It is known that intestinal pathologies are highly contagious lesions.

Intestinal infection on the Black Sea coast: symptoms of pathology

Signs of infection acquired on the Black Sea coast may be different. It depends on the causative agent of the disease. However, all intestinal infections have similar symptoms. The main ailments that you can pick up include enterocolitis, dyspepsia and intoxication. People who have been infected experience the following symptoms:

  • Nausea and vomiting.
  • Headache.
  • General weakness and increased body temperature.
  • Abdominal pain localized in the lower and middle sections.
  • Diarrhea.
  • The appearance of impurities in feces. With some infections, bleeding and pus are observed.

Specific signs of dysentery are pain in the left iliac region. Tenesmus, a false urge to defecate, is also observed. With salmonellosis, the feces become green in color, reminiscent of “frog caviar.”

Diagnosis of infectious intestinal diseases

Diagnostic criteria for acute intestinal infections include diarrhea (bowel movements more than 10 times per day), increased body temperature, and abdominal pain. It is important to distinguish between diseases. After all, the choice of treatment depends on the causative agent of the pathology. For this purpose, pay attention to changes in feces (its appearance), localization and nature of pain. To identify the pathogen, biological fluids and excrement are sent for laboratory testing.

Intestinal infection on the Black Sea coast: treatment of pathology

Such pathologies cause such dangerous disorders as loss of fluid from the body (with vomit, feces), changes in water-salt metabolism. This is why intestinal infection is dangerous on the Black Sea coast. How to treat such a disease? Therapy should be aimed at combating the pathogen and correcting disorders. The choice of drugs depends on the etiology of the infection. In some cases, treatment is carried out with the drug “Penicillin”, “Metronidazole”, “Ceftriaxone”. To replenish fluid volume, it is recommended to take Regidron. In case of severe disturbances, an intravenous infusion of saline solution is performed and the electrolyte balance is corrected.

To avoid infection, it is recommended to postpone your holiday on the Black Sea by 1 month. That is, come to the resort before the season opens. People who vacation at sea in May or early June do not complain about the development of infectious diseases. Unlike tourists who arrived in July and August. It is also recommended not to bring infants with you. People who have problems with the immune system or suffer from acute diseases should refrain from climate change.

Prevention of intestinal infections on the Black Sea

Before going to the resort, you should consult your family doctor. Also, the doctor must be warned that, judging by the reviews of tourists, an intestinal infection may develop on the Black Sea coast. Prevention for those who decide to go on vacation consists of performing the following activities. Firstly, it is necessary to observe the rules of hygiene. It should be remembered that you should not swim if there are lesions on the skin during menstruation. Secondly, you should wash fruits and vegetables thoroughly. If you have small children, you should pour boiling water over the food. Thirdly, you need to thoroughly clean and rinse the fish, and subject it to thorough heat treatment. It is recommended to drink bottled water.

Poisoning at sea

Summer, sea and sun - what could be better for a family holiday? But in order to have only pleasant impressions of your vacation, it is advisable to follow the recommendations of health doctors, which will allow you to maintain the health of yourself and your loved ones. Poisoning at sea, as well as infectious diseases, is a frequent occurrence, since the hot climate, coastal strip and mass gatherings of people from different parts of the world complicate the situation. For a person with a weak immune system, climate change, heat or hypothermia in water can become serious stress, weakening the body and increasing its susceptibility to pathogenic agents.

Is it possible to be poisoned by sea water, what can food poisoning at sea be easily confused with, and how to provide first aid to the victim? In what cases is it necessary to consult a doctor, and when can you limit yourself to self-medication? Let's figure it out.

Is it possible to get poisoned by sea water?

Vacationers at sea often complain of sea water poisoning. The disease is accompanied by fever, vomiting, poor health, and less commonly, bowel disorders. Young children are especially susceptible to such diseases.

What's really going on? Is it really dangerous to swim in the sea?

Infectious disease doctors unanimously claim that sea water itself is absolutely safe. The increased content of sea salt and iodine compounds gives it weak antiseptic properties. For this reason, sea water is not capable of serving as a medium for the preservation and spread of intestinal or other infections, as happens in polluted fresh water bodies and water supplies.

They gargle with saline solutions for laryngitis, wash out the nose for a runny nose, and use them to make stretching baths for purulent skin diseases. In addition, to get sick, you need to receive a fairly large dose of a toxic substance. And this is not fresh water, you can’t drink much of it.

What happens if you swallow sea water while swimming? Usually children are guilty of this. If the baby has received a significant portion of water, then poisoning in a child at sea can manifest itself as nausea and vomiting, poor health, and loss of appetite. There will be no fever or diarrhea. This condition is caused by the effect of salt water on the stomach wall. It goes away within one day, and to ease the nausea it is recommended to drink a lot of plain water.

Causes of poisoning at sea

If other signs appear, then most likely the patient has become a victim of one of the following factors.

  1. Infection. In resort areas, children, and sometimes adults, often contract enterovirus or rotavirus enteritis. Characterized by repeated vomiting, diarrhea, and temperature above 38° C.
  2. Food poisoning. An intestinal infection may develop as a result of food poisoning. Hot climate, food in unsanitary conditions, exotic cuisine, and a change in the usual diet contribute to the poor quality of products. Characteristic signs are vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, sometimes fever, often low (if there is no intestinal infection).
  3. Sunstroke or overheating. If the body's thermoregulation is disrupted, the body temperature rises, the person experiences weakness, fainting, and headaches. One-time vomiting and a feeling of nausea are possible. There is no diarrhea with heat stroke. Body temperature may rise above 38°C.

General symptoms of poisoning

With intestinal infections and food poisoning at sea, symptoms can manifest themselves to varying degrees. In order to begin treatment, it is not necessary to establish an accurate diagnosis - intestinal disorders are treated in the same way. The danger is not to miss serious infectious diseases - typhus, salmonellosis, cholera, botulism or toxin poisoning. In case of mild poisoning or infection that can be treated at home, the following signs will appear:

  • vomit;
  • diarrhea;
  • heat;
  • weakness;
  • sometimes sneezing and runny nose.

Usually the disease begins acutely with fever and vomiting. Such disorders go away in 2–3 days. Sometimes, with the slow development of the disease, diarrhea and high fever occur 2–3 days from the onset.

First aid for poisoning at sea

  1. In case of poisoning with sea water, if a child or adult has swallowed a lot of it, it is recommended to drink more liquid and eat easily digestible foods.
  2. If you are sure that this is food poisoning, then you need to rinse your stomach with a large amount of salted water or a slightly pink solution of potassium permanganate - drink, vomit, drink again, and so on several times until the stomach is cleared of food masses.
  3. If there is a suspicion of viral enteritis, then there is no need to provoke vomiting. The mild form will go away in a couple of days; if the disease is severe, consult a doctor.
  4. In case of heatstroke, the victim is placed in the shade and wiped with cool water.

After taking the first measures, treatment of poisoning begins.

How to avoid poisoning at sea and other troubles, so as not to spoil your vacation and maintain your health? Pay close attention to your well-being and avoid dubious situations:

  • take the necessary medications with you on your trip to the sea in advance;
  • do not be in the sun during the peak of the heat;
  • wear hats and light clothing;
  • wash all vegetables and fruits thoroughly;
  • do not eat store-bought salads;
  • If possible, use disposable or personal utensils;
  • try to eat in the same canteen, and not in different ones;
  • in the heat, try not to buy meat products;
  • do not buy food from private sellers serving it on the beach;
  • Monitor the quality of drinking water - it is best to buy bottled water.

Let's summarize. When vacationing in coastal areas, people often encounter troubles such as intestinal infections and poisoning. Characteristic symptoms include vomiting, diarrhea, and increased body temperature. Treatment is symptomatic: taking restorative fluids, enterosorbents, antipyretic drugs. It is recommended to follow a gentle diet. If you experience signs of acute intestinal infection or poisoning from strong toxins, consult a doctor immediately.

    The contents of sea water are mucous lumps, strings, snot. If you see this in the water, know that it is not plankton. These are clumps of dead bacteria; on the surface of these dots and lumps, bacteria that have entered the sea from unauthorized sewers that flow with the storm into the sea just 20 meters from the shore thrive.
    And of course, clean sea water does not carry bacteria. But where have you seen a clean one, if not in winter?

    At the end of the holiday season, it is especially easy to pick up something at sea. The water was warm, there were a lot of vacationers, they all peed, spat, and so on... This year we went to Crimea in the hope of a clean sea, but no, and here we caught a rotavirus infection, the whole family lay in bed for two days. And they ate at home. It’s good that we had all the medications, because it’s simply impossible to buy them here. There is only one conclusion - there is no clean sea off the coast!

    We were on vacation with our son in Abkhazia, hoping for a clear sea, but on the 3rd day they both got sick. We spent 2 days in bed and then the discomfort remained until the end of our stay (we rested for 14 days). There is only one conclusion: there is no clean Black Sea coast.

    We are vacationing in Montenegro, we thought it would be clean... We chose a small town, but on the 10th day a storm washed up the mud on the shore... As a result, many got sick, my son had debilitating nausea and repeated vomiting for 2 days... Where is it even possible to find clean water during the season?

    We are resting in Vardan for the 4th day, the child has had diarrhea, nausea, fever and a very sore throat since yesterday. And my acquaintances have already been in the infectious diseases department twice with a small child.

    Holidays in Gagra. We arrived in Gagry, the sea was blue and warm. But already on the 2nd day, my 13-year-old son and husband began to experience nausea and vomiting. They lay there for a day, I saved them with Smecta, Regidron, I thought that I would be carried away. On the 3rd day I got sick, the same vomiting, diarrhea, high temperature. Medicines in Abkhazia are 2-3 times more expensive, but nothing can be done. I hope to get better quickly.

    I absolutely agree with the first review! In Gagra this is the case - first I smelled the smell of sewage, then I found a mountain river (the Gagripsh stream), then it was not at all surprising to see clots, mucus and some strings of algae in the “clean” water! Well, then first the child - vomiting and diarrhea for a day, then the wife, then I follow them! Now, upon arrival home, we restore the intestinal flora with smecta and enterosgel, everyone has diarrhea! What a vacation on the Black Sea!!!

    Gelendzhik... rest... nightmare...
    On the third day, the child (5 years old) woke up covered in a rash and severe swelling on the face... urgently an anti-allergy drug, baths with string, chamomile and ointment all over the body every three hours... we managed... but on the sixth day, in the morning, vomiting, diarrhea... urgently to the doctor... they didn’t tell me anything new “diet, small drinks and 6 medications”... watch, she says... I watched the child suffer all day... I gave her water, she got everything back... I gave her a pill... she came back... and now the pace is creeping up ...
    I'll say this across the sea! If I knew what it was like here, I could easily dive into the swamp at my place of residence, the effect is the same... the water is of an unnatural color, of some kind of incomprehensible consistency... there are simply darkness of people... I won’t set foot here again... I think that I won’t set foot in the sea at all! Otherwise, I want to spend my vacation... and now, for a lot of money, I have caused stress for the child and the whole family...

    Yeah. We are on vacation in Montenegro (Budva), the stomach hurts and nausea for the third day. I was thinking about making the children’s food healthier - but no!(
    Every year we suffer this fate on every sea. The exception was the Atlantic Ocean.

    Everything seems to be fine in Sochi - we’ve been vacationing here as a family for 3 weeks now and everything is going smoothly so far.

    Abkhazia. Gagra. All the same. Moreover, having gotten sick for the first time with the whole family (4 people), we thought that it was all over. But no. The symptoms last for a day, then it becomes easier. Then everything seemed to be getting better, but after a day or two there was diarrhea and abdominal pain again. And so on in turn, throughout the entire vacation. When we arrive home we will undergo treatment, that’s how I feel. About Crimea, I will say that until 2014 we went there at the same time (early August) and no one in the family ever even felt unwell. Take care of yourself!

    It's almost 5 am and I can't sleep a wink. Before lunch, a 5-year-old child woke up with diarrhea, and by the evening he was also vomiting, we run from the toilet to the basins or even sit by the toilet; we cannot move further than 2 meters. It turns out there isn’t even a nurse at the base, we had to call an ambulance, which only arrived 2.5 hours later when the child was already exhausted. They gave the injection, but it was five o’clock in the morning, and the temperature began to rise. Not relaxation, but some kind of horror. It would be better to direct the funds in a different direction, which would not cause this to the child. The holiday in Arkhipo-Osipovka was not a success. It’s sad that the joy that the child received in the first 1.5 days turned into such a state of health for the child...

    We rested in the village of Plyakho, Tuapse district (this is where the Orlyonok children's camp is located), for the first 5 days everything was fine, then... a nightmare began... For adults, it all started with diarrhea, then vomiting, the intestines hurt so much that you wanted to scream, children also had vomiting and diarrhea, their tummy hurts. In August and July we decided not to set foot on the sea again, the holiday would be ruined one hundred percent. We are thinking about going to the Republic of Belarus, or to Maykop, where there is a mountain river, waterfalls, and thermal springs.

    We are relaxing in Sukko. The first five days are good. And then the whole family began to have a nightmare - vomiting, diarrhea.

    We are relaxing in Lazarevskaya. There are queues at pharmacies for two days. You can no longer buy Smecta and Regidron. Our child couldn’t resist rotavirus either... We rested and became healthier...

    ANAPA. Upon arrival, three days were normal, but on the fourth day everyone got sick. Five people, two adults, three children. Along the shore the water is green, terrible mud floats, the mud makes it difficult to even enter the sea, but 20-25 meters away if you swim from the shore there is clear blue water. Sixth day at sea, and I already really want to go home!

    We are resting in Divnomorsk for the 4th day... at night and before 5 am the child began to have terrible vomiting and severe abdominal pain... during the day the temperature rose high... we are treated with enterofuril, charcoal and rehydron... it’s good that you have the medicine with you, the prices here are 2, otherwise and 3 times more expensive... while at the pharmacy there was a thermometer, many people come with such symptoms and mainly in children... everyone’s holiday is ruined, it’s hard to look at the torment of your child...

    We are vacationing with our 12-year-old son in Sochi. On the 7th day the child felt sick and had diarrhea. I started giving interofuril right away! A slight fever rose. I myself feel discomfort in my stomach and feel nauseous, I also took intorofuril so that the infection does not develop further! The holiday, of course, deteriorated and the mood was no longer the same, although last year we vacationed here at the same time and everything was fine. Apparently it’s not necessary once in a while! We used to go to Crimea all the time and this has never happened before! Have a good rest everyone, don't worry, don't get sick! Take care of yourself and your children!!!

    08/17/2017 we arrived in Betta. On the first day, my husband was poisoned; on the way to the pharmacy, the locals said that it was the sea. On the second day I felt bad too. The condition is serious - half the night near the basin, the next day in the toilet. I bought Polysorb and charcoal. But there are still residual effects - nausea, intestinal upset, I don’t even want to eat. I had to leave quickly. We had grand plans for our vacation!

    We were vacationing in Gelendzhik, on the 3rd day the child had an intestinal infection from the sea. For the second year in a row we are suffering, in the past the whole family suffered after a vacation, now only our daughter, but we are waiting for it to overtake us too... It’s amazing that before this we lived for 11 years on the Black Sea coast and this has never happened in all the years.
    We are treated with enterefuril and enterosgel.

    Day 4 in Loo. Out of 11 people, 9 suffer. (Children have diarrhea, vomiting, nausea, fever. Adults have a mild form. For 3 years in a row we went in June, no matter what, but here... Not again in July, August. The owners warned. They didn’t listen. Now they advised be treated with strong drinks...)

    On the third 2nd day of rest in the village. The child has vomiting, diarrhea, and fever. We drink Interofuril, Regidron, Smecta, the result is still zero. This is an epidemic, every second person is lying down, ambulances roam around the village more often than regular minibuses.

    We rested in Novomikhailovsk. 9 people, on the 5th day all of them had diarrhea, some had vomiting and fever. They scare us with Turkish Coxsackie. We have worse things here.

    Now you can't go to the sea. There is so much infection, you could die. No more naked at sea.

    On August 26, 2017, the whole family vacationed for three days in Makhachkala. The sea is great. We arrived home and my 4-year-old son began vomiting and weakness. Swallowed some water. We are treated with smecta.

    I visited the Black Sea for the first time. Anapa, August, tin. Three adults and two children. After 4 days, one of the children has vomiting and diarrhea, then the other, then the adults. It affected me in a mild form - on the ninth day I had the same symptoms. It passed in a day for me. But the rest suffer for a week. I had all the medications from the article with me and took them. This didn’t happen in the Mediterranean Sea, the Sea of Azov, or in the Gulf of Thailand; never set foot on the Black Sea. Anapa at the height of the season is hell for relaxation, but a good simulator for the immune system. The sand smells like a toilet. When you go into the sea, spit and phlegm spread out on the surface. Our population is not shy about spitting in the sea. Apparently, the main reason for the spread of infection is the lack of culture among the majority of vacationers. To summarize, the Black Sea is useful for cleansing the body and losing weight. The main thing is not to spit your stomach out.

    We rested from 08/24/17 to 08/30/17, the route was as follows: first in Anapa for 2 days, then in Sochi for 3 days, on the shore of sunny Adler. I recommend a holiday in the Russian south in August to everyone who wants to clear their stomachs and pick up some crap. On the 3rd day the child escaped with mild vomiting and fever, I crap all over the bushes from Adler to St. Petersburg while driving back. And now with a fever, I’m sitting and looking at photos from my vacation, hugging Nastya, who is now running to the potty ahead of me, just like a sprinter))) We are treated with entorfuril and drink water. Beaver everyone, never set foot in the Russian south again(((
    It’s not clear what kind of crap is floating there in the sea, although the water was great. So in my life I have never taken a shit or vomited (((

    The whole family of 6 people, 2 children, vacationed in Gelendzhik. On day 2 everyone got sick. Vomiting, fever, diarrhea, aversion to food. It was terrible.

    We vacationed in Crimea in the second half of August, 3 days later I fell ill, and a few days later my adult grandson fell ill. All symptoms of acute intestinal infection. Fruits - they washed their hands, did not swallow water from the sea, etc. It’s a pity that you spent days in the toilet! It’s time for local authorities to improve the sanitary situation and improve the health of their vacation guests, and not the other way around!

    I read the comments from vacationers because I myself was in shock, last year we vacationed in Gelendzhik for three weeks, the end of August and half of September, we were very lucky that we didn’t catch any infections, so we decided to go to our Black Sea this year. We are vacationing in Adler, on the 10th day the child (5 years old) began to have diarrhea and vomiting, they called an ambulance, prescribed a lot of medications, nothing helps, I feel sorry for the child, he is all exhausted, and to be honest, he himself feels nauseous. There are flies flying everywhere in cafes and canteens, and you still don’t know why or where you caught them. The desire to come to the sea completely disappeared. Take care of your children and yourself!

    We rented an apartment in Sochi for 2 months - from the end of July to the end of September. Everything was fine until August 30, but on that day the child (5 years old) began vomiting and diarrhea, then the wife the next day, and the next day me. But everything passed for everyone in one day. We took Polysorb.

    We were vacationing in Adler as a family, on the 10th day the eldest and youngest had vomiting and fever, were treated with enterofuril and enterosgel, suffered for a day, it seemed to have passed. Tomorrow we’ll go home, we’re sick again, the older one is constantly vomiting, the wife too, I can’t get out of the potty, the little one doesn’t seem to mind. Horseradish knows what it’s all about, I took a sip of water a couple of days ago, and my crap caught it from me, they say the crap is contagious. I hope at least today it will be over by the evening, tomorrow morning on the train, there’s not a lot of rushing around there. Good luck to all!

    It’s terrible, we’re relaxing in Lazarevskoye, is it like this everywhere?

    We had a great time in Sochi. We drove 3,000 kilometers to admire the beauty of Krasnaya Polyana, and my husband and I couldn’t resist swimming in the sea. The result caught up on the way back - all inflammatory processes of the genitourinary system. It’s a pity that the vacation was a quick one, but we had to drink more and wouldn’t have had to spend money on medicine. In general, everything is cool, such a vacation will remain in the memory for a long time. I wish you a good rest without consequences and take care of your children.

    We have been vacationing in Anapa since July 9, on the second day the eldest daughter fell ill, then the middle one, then the youngest. We are treated with Entorosgel, Entorofuril. We are sitting in the room. The WATER in the sea is dirty, near the shore with mud, it’s scary to go in. Was it worth flying 7 hours just for this? I saw the sea for the first time, complete disappointment. There are cigarette butts in the sand on the beach, paper, well, it depends on the upbringing of our people, they sit and smoke without leaving the sea. I remember our beloved and clean Baikal, although people litter there on the shores, to put it mildly. Never set foot on the sea again, only to Lake Baikal. It’s a shame, my daughters waited six months for the sea.

    Second day at sea, and already I was poisoned - I swallowed water in Arkhipo-Osipovka. The sea is like a swamp - dirty, unsanitary. Now I'm suffering - my stomach hurts. The pain is hellish, and on top of that there is overheating. The main thing is that there is no diarrhea. It’s better to stay at home and don’t go anywhere, otherwise you’ll regret it; you’ll spend your entire vacation in the hotel, taking pills!

    We vacationed in Kabardinka from June 27 to July 10. My daughter and granddaughter fell ill on the 3rd day after swimming in the sea. The child had vomiting, diarrhea, and a fever. It’s good that we got up after 2 days. The vomiting was relieved with Motilium syrup, which was recommended to us at the pharmacy. They drank water in small sips and did not eat for a day. I fell ill on the 9th day... Today, July 20th, the diarrhea still does not go away. Everyone has blamed the guest house, but judging by your reviews... That’s not the issue. Lopedium did not help and does not help... I think we need to start antibiotics. We don't want to go to the sea anymore. Although we went 3 previous years in a row, we were in Gelendzhik 2 times, in Vityazevo and on Dzhemete near Anapa. This has never happened before. We felt like we were at home and didn’t feel any adaptation.

    We are currently on vacation in Agoy; out of 10 days, 5 passed by - all four of us got sick in turn. Children first. Temperature below 38 and vomiting. We were treated with Enterosgel and activated charcoal. We don’t want to go to the sea anymore, we’ve lost our appetite too.

    Spoiled vacation from Adler! It’s a pity that I read all the negative points on the Internet very late. Daughter (7 years old) - vomiting, high fever; then I joined in, and finally my mother. They even called an ambulance on the train. We’ve been at home for two days now, and everyone has no appetite, their stomachs are stopping... The child is lethargic, the temperature has dropped to 36. What a nightmare!

    Good afternoon We always vacationed at the Adler resort in May-June. The sea water is cool but clean! There are no infections. The children are happy. Great vacation! In 2017 we were in LOO in August. The water temperature is high, very hot and stuffy. As local residents explained to us, due to the high temperature of the water, the infection that gets into it is not destroyed. ALL vacationers vomited (pardon the expression). The holiday was of course ruined. There is only one conclusion: in July-August you need to be careful with the sea or prepare for such consequences.

    Gelendzhik, Divnomorskoe... From the moment I arrived, 2 children caught the virus: snot and a terrible cough. On day 3, I began to listen and take a closer look at those around me - half of them were sneezing or coughing, or even both. Okay, I thought it was okay, it happens... We seem to have healed. But on the 10th day, one after another, from our group, they began to fall down with terrible diarrhea for a day, some with a fever! I thought at least this would pass me by! But no) it’s night, everyone is sleeping, the neighbors are drinking downstairs... I sit on the balcony and run around vomiting, excuse me, every 20 minutes! And I almost cry from the terrible state. Well, it’s cool to relax on the Black Sea, you’ll agree!!!

    We have been in Gelendzhik since July 25, 2018, on the second day after swimming in the sea two adults fell ill, they immediately put in IV drips and started antibiotic injections... And of course the diet (black tea with sugar and crackers) on the fourth day a 3-year-old child had a stuffy nose, diarrhea and temperature 37.6... Think for yourself whether it’s worth going to the Krasnodar region and wasting your health, nerves and money.

    Just yesterday at one in the morning I woke up with nausea, ran to the toilet, everything seemed to go away, and then bam, it exploded, and so on for 5-6 hours, I didn’t sleep all night, in the morning I somehow fell asleep for a couple of hours... And closer to the day The temperature rose, which was terrible, it was very sausagey, I drank smecta and activated charcoal, and, by the way, when I vomited, I couldn’t drink, I immediately vomited. But this morning it went away, but when I inhale there is pain in the lungs and ribs, and wild discomfort in the stomach, I can’t eat, I have no appetite at all.

    We often vacation in the Krasnodar region, rent housing with a kitchen, cook and eat only our own home-cooked food, and don’t buy anything on the beach. We sunbathe from 7-10 am and after 4 pm. Everything is always good, no poisoning.

    We have been vacationing since July 27, 2018 in Gelendzhik. The sea is dirty. On the 4th day, my 5 year old son had vomiting and diarrhea. And today it rinses me from every crevice. Terrible abdominal pain, diarrhea, vomiting. Horror. You save money for the sea and you have a vacation. Your own food. While I’m being treated: Regidron, Polysorb, charcoal.

    Last year I already left a comment, my vacation in August in Gelendzhik was ruined ((Then only my daughter survived, at the first symptoms I also started taking the medicine and it didn’t affect me! And now for the third year in a row, history repeated itself! July - Dzhubga - hello infection! We live in Krasnodar, so it seems like a sin not to go to the sea... I thought that I wouldn’t go in August, having the experience of the past 2 years, but this time it’s July, and all the infections have multiplied (now we’ll limit ourselves to June! We were always treated with Enterosgel and Enterofuril , I found an analogue of Enrofuril - Elyufor, the same active ingredient, but it costs 2-2.5 times cheaper, the effect is completely the same! But it is better to buy it at home in advance, because you are unlikely to find it in pharmacies at sea, and the prices there are crazy. From food: salted oatmeal in water, in small portions (literally a spoon or two), crackers (not sweet), strong tea without sugar and without additives, boiled water. On the second day, broth (not fatty, preferably the 2nd or 3rd, but I don’t bother and take the breast), also with crackers. Restores within a day. My daughter completely recovered on the second day, but I took over the baton) Tomorrow I plan to be cheerful! We probably shouldn’t think about public beaches...

    We relax every year on the Black Sea. Now in Vardan. We don’t catch any infections, we just take Polysorb for prevention and everything is fine.

    Gurzuf, my eight-year-old son, caught rotavirus, I took a hundred grams of vodka with pepper and a little salt, drank it, and even my son seemed to feel better!

    Yeisk, Sea of Azov. We've stayed here many times, everything was fine. This year I took my 4-year-old daughter to the sea for the first time, a week later she started vomiting and her temperature rose at night. We drink Lactofiltrum. The sea is just brutal - a bunch of dead fish. Mothers are not shy about taking their children to the sea to pee. It would be better if we went to Karelia 🙁

    Before going to the sea, I read the Internet and all the sites were trumpeting about the infection. But I really wanted to go to the sea, I hadn’t gone for 2 years, I thought it would blow over. My family and my 2-year-old son went to Loo. On the 2nd day of stay, the child began vomiting and diarrhea. They called an ambulance, which arrived almost 3 hours later. We agreed to hospitalization, the clinic was overcrowded, there was no water for a day, they served breakfast only at 10. My son more or less left on the 3rd day of his stay, but I became infected with an infectious disease! I think it's in the hospital! There are so many sick people and many come up next to each other, try to contact each other, sneeze, it’s terrible. I wrote a refusal and my husband took us to complete our treatment at home. Bottom line: dear ones, don’t come on vacation with children! No, it won’t! 85% of you will end up with an infectious disease! And there it is... Take care of yourself and your loved ones. We won't be setting foot on the seas anytime soon.

    Arkhipo-osipovka, currently on the 6th day of rest. This morning my son's temperature rose to 39.5. They knocked me down with Nurofen, lay down for 10 minutes and, as if nothing had happened, went to play on the playground. In 2 hours t 40!!! We went to the doctor, except for t symptoms. Based on the symptoms, the doctor ruled out intestines and tonsillitis, the only thing is that the tonsils are a little loose. I prescribed hexoral in the throat 3 times a day, rinse the nose with Aquamaris, and alternate Nurofen with Tsefekon suppositories. After the doctor, t rose again to 39, they put candles. Of all the vacationers at the hotel, one more adult also has t and also diarrhea. For the rest, everything is ok, and there are people who have been resting for 10-14 days.
    Regarding the Black Sea coast, guys, they are being hounded in Turkey, in Egypt, and in Greece. If you want to protect yourself and your children from this and at the same time relax at the seaside, then you need to go in the cool months - March, April, May, October, or not go at all. My husband and I go every year, sometimes twice, and always to the Black Sea coast. I felt bad once - on my very first visit, acclimatization, so to speak. This is my second year with the child, and that year has passed. This is not the case. There is only one conclusion - unfortunately, it doesn’t happen once in a while, but maybe it’s for the better. We wish you all good health and strong immunity.

    We returned from Gelendzhik and were in Blue Bay. I didn’t swim at all, the water was dirty, really brown, I just wet my feet. But I wasn’t spared either. Diarrhea, terrible cough, runny nose, my legs ache, my muscles ache, my head is pounding. It looks like the flu, only the temperature is 37.1. Never set foot on the Black Sea again. There are tons of people, there are flies everywhere in the cafe, the heat is terrible, the sea is like a stinking brown river.

    We barely returned from Adler! I haven't experienced such hell for a long time! On day 3, I thought I had caught a bad flu! And diarrhea and vomiting! By the way, it hasn’t been two weeks already! What haven’t I tried! There is local water and sea water! In short, we arrived from Vorkuta and it was like being in a concentration camp! I don’t know what to do - nothing helps! People be careful! This is hell!

    I haven’t set foot on our seas for a long time.
    She brought an infection from Sochi, a sore throat in Crimea, and treated bronchitis from Bulgaria for 2 months.
    And I’m afraid it’s going to Turkey, it’s also mowing down the coastlines there.

    We took the child to the seaside in Greece, Crete 2017. In the end, the virus was not a stomach virus, but the temperature was 40, with great difficulty, first my 2-year-old son, then me, then my husband coughed for 3 weeks. There was some kind of infection going around the hotel, and everyone in the restaurant was constantly coughing.

    Then Cyprus, Limassol 2018, again a fever and not a stomach virus, the doctor said, one of the children shared. The temperature is 40 again.

    Now in Rhodes, Ixia beach, Greece. I caught the enterovirus, danced around the potty all morning in different places, vomiting and diarrhea. On the beach, the nearest person is generally 50 meters away.

    The sea was clean everywhere, I chose remote places so that there wouldn’t be a lot of people. I basically blame hotels. While at the buffet table everyone touches everything with dirty hands, although we sanitize our hands right at the table before eating. We shy away from people. We never go to the pool, all doctors forbid it, that’s where rotavirus breeds too.

    I’ll take my next vacation without the power on, I don’t have the strength to get sick on vacation anymore. Where to go already?!
    Health to everyone!

    Julia, maybe you just have a weak immune system?

    Roman, how simple it is for you! A person with a weak immune system can be called someone who gets sick 6-10 times a year. And even in St. Petersburg, with its terrible climate, rain, piercing wind and cold, I don’t do this all year. Hello on vacation.
    There is a term: relaxing effect. This is already closer to me, because when managing my business there is no time to be completely sick, stress is regular.
    Also, flying on an airplane, where air recirculation and a huge number of people in close quarters, are the cause of diseases.
    I just want to say that going to the Black Sea is already pointless, there are too many people, the dirty hot sea with bacteria multiplying there and feces merging into the sea is a breeding ground for infection. And how much did you save? Friends went during the high season to a good hotel in Turkey for all inclusive for 100 thousand.
    But in other countries we must keep our heads up. To give the body time to adapt, we sunbathe in the morning before 11, in the evening after 16. And for those mothers who are worried about doctors abroad. We provide insurance without a conditional franchise, i.e. any doctor call is free. The child fell ill in Cyprus, they called the insurance company at 9, the doctor came at 13. They called a doctor for me yesterday, and he came in 3 hours.
    Wishing everyone a healthy and happy holiday full of great memories!

    We vacationed with our family in the Adler resort from August 26 to 30, in the Dolphin boarding house. Briefly describe the holiday - horror, nightmare. It's a big mistake to take a 1.3 g child to the sea. On the second day, the temperature was under 40, vomiting, etc. And no one said a word anywhere that they had rotavirus infection everywhere or something incomprehensible, they went as far as antibiotics and IVs.

    Everyone! Make an urgent decision whether to vacation on the Black Sea in Russia and Abkhazia. If there are children, then refuse immediately. The situation is critical. The entire coast of Russia and Abkhazia was built up with private houses for rent. And the sewerage all leads to the sea, so the entire coast is infected with what is considered rotavirus, I will call it intestinal, because the symptoms are the same for everyone - vomiting and diarrhea do not stop continuously all day, then the frequency decreases and on the third or fourth day there may be an improvement if lucky. It's time to boycott holidays on the Black Sea until the local authorities solve the problem with the sewage system, because fines for drunk driving and not allowing pedestrians to pass have helped.
    The review is real. Today we returned from Gagra (Abkhazia), we were also in Sochi - the situation is the same. Gagra - 20 km of beaches, the entire coastline was cut down and private houses were set up for rent. In the city of Gagra there are no treatment facilities at all, all the sewage goes into the sea, in the evening, when it gets dark and early in the morning at five or six in the morning, everyone’s engines are noisy - they drain the water, some openly pour it onto the road, even near the hospital. In the area of the city beach near the water park there are three open sewer drains, one in the form of a river to the right of the water park, if you look at the sea, local businessmen don’t even put out sunbeds there, the second opposite the water park is gushing on the beach - this is a drain from restaurants, the third is from the water park ( the price of the issue is 2 thousand to the inspector). And now the question is - vomiting and diarrhea, where do you put the contents - right into the sewer. And if the sewer goes into the sea and the temperature is below 30, it’s an epidemic. Three of us went to Gagra - a child, a man, a woman. A week's trip to a sanatorium. Day one - hurray sea, the child swallowed water. In the evening at dinner (7:30 p.m.) the complaint was that it was hard to breathe on the right side, then vomited. The child was taken to the room. The vomiting did not stop, as soon as I drank a little water, I vomited again, then when my entire intestines were empty, I vomited bile. The child constantly wanted to sleep. The temperature rose to 38.6. At 22-00 we ran to the doctor on duty at the sanatorium - take the doctor’s advice, but we demanded to call an ambulance. The ambulance did not arrive, after 30 minutes we were advised to take a taxi straight to the hospital. We spent 10 minutes calling all taxi driver phone numbers known to the sanatorium workers. The doctor on duty at the sanatorium immediately said that the hospital would only put him on an IV and send him home. The child was taken to the hospital by taxi. The children's department of the hospital is simply terrible - completely unsanitary, dirty, the child was put on a dirty sheet, given an IV and diagnosed with heat stroke. The doctor didn’t come at all, they didn’t measure the temperature, as it turned out later, they only have two thermometers per department, there are no nurses, the nurses wash the floors in parallel with the placement of IVs. There are no disposable gloves at all, no trash cans, floors are swept with a broom, no shoe covers. There are no dust rags. At the same time (23-00) in the children's department there were seven more children, also on IVs, with diarrhea and vomiting. All of them were sent home before 3:00.
    After “personal gratitude” they brought a clean sheet. After “repeated gratitude” with a request to at least spend a day under IVs with an anti-emetic drug, the doctor paid attention to us. In order to retain water in the child’s body and not damage the kidneys and heart, the doctor prescribed treatment: an IV, a stay in the hospital for four days, and most importantly, antibiotics - and it immediately became clear to us that it was not a heatstroke, but a viral one. The doctor left the child until the morning; in the morning another doctor came and also did not approach the child. After “personal gratitude,” he prescribed a second IV and left. The child slept all day, vomiting and diarrhea were much less frequent, and in the evening the child began to eat rice water and drink water. The doctor is on duty 24 hours. In the morning we went back to the doctor with “personal gratitude.” Another drip, they were also allowed to take the child home, but they gave a recommendation that the child not bathe or be in the sun until the end of the vacation. Continue antibiotics. Thus passed our two sleepless nights and three days of vacation. During this time, we saw that children were also constantly being brought to the hospital by taxi. And in the evening there are seven or eight people. During the day, some of them are brought back by their parents for injections or drips, who agreed on what and for how much. Some children are transferred to the infectious diseases department (for gratitude), where, according to the doctor of the children's department, it is much cleaner and better, and repairs have been made. Since our child slept all the time and was lethargic, we wanted to urgently take the child to Russia in Sochi to the hospital, we called our relatives, but they said that in Sochi the entire children's infectious diseases department was overcrowded, and all the children were sick as well. By the way, adults get sick with the same symptoms, but they tolerate the disease more easily due to alcohol, but more on that below.
    It was decided to wait day and night, see how the child would survive the day, travel by train from Gagry-Adler to Sochi, and then by plane to Moscow. After having lunch in the sanatorium cafeteria, in the evening we (a man and a woman) began to feel sick, the child felt fine, he ate, but it was dietary. The man drank vodka and the urge to vomit subsided until the morning, the woman drank vodka did not sleep all night and in the morning induced vomiting with two fingers. After that, she started having diarrhea and her temperature rose to 37.4. Taking the medications prescribed by the doctors allowed the child to remain ill for a day. And husband. In the morning I drank vodka again and again relieved the urge to vomit, and this lasted for a day, after which on the fifth day of rest in the morning diarrhea appeared and continued until the intestines were completely empty, but there was no vomiting or fever. I was sick for only 12 hours, taking the same medications, but without alcohol.
    There was no point in leaving Gagra, the train was coming soon. During the entire vacation, watching the guests of the sanatorium in the dining room, constantly from behind each table designed for four, someone disappeared for two days, and from conversations in a half-whisper it became clear that everyone had the same thing - diarrhea and vomiting, and worse if it’s time for you to leave (everyone is embarrassed, but you have to shout about it in order to change something).
    The result is that it was necessary to announce an epidemic in the sanatorium, but they hushed up the situation by placing a glass of wine on the tables for each vacationer at lunch. According to the taxi driver at the hospital, the locals have not swum in the sea at all for decades and go to the mountains to the rivers; children have been taken to the hospital constantly since May. According to her compartment neighbor, on the way back, during her vacation, two daughters, a daughter-in-law, and two granddaughters, who were also traveling on the train, but in a different carriage, fell ill. One of the granddaughters was sick twice during the holiday. From the first day, the owner of the house treated the neighbor herself to chacha. The conductors on the Moscow-Sukhum train did not clean up while moving and did not warn that the situation was critical, and on the return journey on the Sukhum-Moscow train they constantly wiped the floors and washed the toilets. Local doctors in Gagra are hiding the situation, saying that everyone has heatstroke. The only thing they do is put on an IV for free and send you home to complete your treatment yourself as best you can without advice or prescriptions.
    There is a possibility that the virus is transmitted by airborne droplets. During the entire vacation I had to boil purchased water and eat nothing local except what was provided in the sanatorium canteen. In the hope that in order to fight for vacationers, the management of the sanatorium will force the kitchen workers to wash their hands more often. By the way, in Sochi they decided to make toilets on the beach free of charge starting in 2018, so that people would not go into the sea - this is how they fight infection.
    The situation was the same for relatives who were vacationing in Crimea - two children also fell ill. The authorities are keeping quiet about all this in order not to disrupt the holiday seasons and to recoup the money invested in southern resorts.

    Hello everyone! I 10000% confirm the words of the previous comment!!! My family and I were at the Adler resort from August 26-30, which was enough for all hell to break loose. Fever, vomiting, diarrhea, headache, the child was injected with antibiotics. We are still healing. The only conclusion is not to come there until they restore order!!! Don't waste your money and health!!!

    Our south is just something. I don’t know anyone who hasn’t suffered from sea water. In pursuit of money, some people waste money, others turn a blind eye, others sell motilium at 1.5. That's all.

    Now in Gelendzhik, the sea is dirty. We've been here for three days. One swim was enough. Virus, vomiting, diarrhea... Temperature, fucked up, if anyone else says, let's go to the sea... I'll kill you... Never set foot on the sea again.
