Rosa Peak height 2320. Rosa Khutor ski resort in Sochi, cable car to Rosa Peak. At the Peak of Emotions

In this part we will talk about a walk on the ski lifts to the mountains in Rosa Khutor, which is actually why we dropped by for the last three days of our vacation in Sochi.

1. Our journey began from the Adler railway station. This is a new station building built for the 2014 Winter Olympics.

The new station building was built next to the old building and built over the railway tracks. Construction of the new Adler station began in 2010 and was completed in 2013, a couple of months before the start of the 2014 Olympics. The new Adler station was inaugurated on October 28, 2013. The shape of the new building resembles an oncoming wave. The capacity of the new Adler railway station is from 2000 to 4000 passengers per hour. Solar panels are installed on the roof of the station, thanks to which heat is supplied.

2. The old building of the Adler railway station was put into operation in 1954, even before the village of Adler became part of Greater Sochi (1961).
There are a large number of taxi drivers circling this place, ready to take you anywhere. We agreed with one of them to get there for 200 rubles. per person. The minibus cost about 130 rubles, but it took a very long time to travel, since the route follows the old highway with stops in all settlements along the way. Last year we took a ride on it, it was even more fun :) The new route to Rosa Khutor is simply gorgeous, 35-40 minutes and we are there. The taxi driver offered the option of purchasing lift tickets at the same prices as at the box office, but without queuing. According to him, there must be just wild queues there. At the entrance to Rosa Khutor, there is a seller of these same tickets by the side of the road. In general, we refused, there was no limit to the taxi driver's indignation :) Looking ahead, I will say that there were no queues, there were many ticket offices there. Most likely they would have sold us a ticket only for the first level of the climb at the price of a ticket for three climbs (1300 rubles). Externally, the tickets cannot be distinguished in any way; they are magnetic.

3. Here we are, beauty:)

4. The ubiquitous McDonald's is here too.

5. One of the lift branches.

6. A huge samovar greeted visitors at the entrance of one of the many cafes.

7. The tower of the Town Hall building, stylized as the tower of the Sochi railway station. Those interested can take photos on the pedestal.

8. Bridge over the Mzymta River.

9. View of the river from the bridge, everything was built for the Olympics, there are simply tons of different hotels here.

10. On the right is a multi-level parking lot.

11. Meanwhile, without hesitation, we bought tickets and went to the mountains.

12. A magnificent view opens from the lift cabin onto the Mzymta floodplain.

13. We walked here last year.

31. Later we will go to the very top of Rosa Peak, height 2320 m above sea level.

32. At an altitude of 1350 m there is also a cafe :)

33. We rode on closed lifts, now it’s time for the open ones. We go through the tunnel to the open branch "Wolf Rock".

33. Ivan-tea in color.

35. Mountain coolness, fresh air and gorgeous views, what more do you need?

36. It looks like fresh water reserves, an artificial reservoir.

37. Let's go back.

38. Landing on the "Wolf Scada" lift.

39.

40. At the very top there was heavy cloudiness, cold...

41. In August, all the slopes of the mountains are in bloom; if only we could get here in May, there would still be snow on the tops of the mountains.

42. These types of devices reach here, to an altitude of 2320 m.

43. Nothing is visible below.

44. I don’t know what the flowers are called.

45. Ivan-tea again.

46.

47.

48.

48. Restaurant "Height 2320", here "Zhatetsky Gus" costs 350 rubles. 0.5 l.

49. For a long time I could not understand what it was, it turned out to be an anti-avalanche system.

50.

51.

52. For a moment the cloud cleared and the Olympic village below became a little visible.

53. Rose Peak is one of the highest observation platforms in Sochi, accessible by gondola lift, with unique 360 degree panoramic views. - to the mountain ranges of Abkhazia and the Black Sea from the south, the Psekhako ridge - from the north. All this is visible, unless of course there are clouds :)

53.

54.

55.

56.

57. Road to Aibga, you can ride a horse. We won't go there.

58. We will go to the stone pillar at an altitude of 2509 m, but this will be in the next part.

The Rosa Peak observation deck is located on the territory of the Rosa Khutor ski complex, at an altitude of 2320 meters - the top of the Aibga mountain range. Not the most important, as I understand it, because next door there is also the Kamenny Pillar peak, already 2509 meters high, where ski lifts no longer go. At Rose Peak, people unload to slide down one of the two slopes of the ridge. Even those who do not consider themselves athletes and come to Rosa Peak in ordinary clothes have something to do.

The first is the Height 2320 restaurant, and the second is the Rosa Peak observation deck. You can also look at people with skis and snowboards or touch the special mountain equipment that lays the trails, but the main thing why people come here is beauty.

I talked about the restaurant in more detail and with photographs in, but about Rosa Peak I can write the following: if the sky is overcast, there is no need to come here for beautiful views. Yes, this is a terrible platitude, but we are all human, and we usually hope for the best outcome even in the most unfavorable circumstances. As in my case, when the first four days of my race turned out to be rich in rain, fog and cloudy skies. I climbed Rose Peak several times, but to purposefully wander around without equipment, gawk at the views and drink tea in a restaurant - I only got around to it once.

And already from the Olympic Village it was clear to me that there was most likely nothing to do at the top, and even if Rose Peak broke through the clouds, then nothing would be visible from top to bottom. However, the Russian-Israeli avos prevailed, and I went to the funicular. The entire ascent took about 30 minutes with one change, which I was very happy about - some terribly sweaty comrades were riding in the cabin with me (winter, a lot of skiers). Having caught some fresh air and jostled with the athletes in line (in the morning there are really crowds here, like in the subway), I got out at the top, near the Height 2320 restaurant. The Rosa Peak observation deck is located behind the restaurant.

A large space with railings and wooden flooring was built on the edge of a cliff that I had never seen. The hopes that the clouds would clear with the morning sun did not come true, and I had to be content with two figures of Bigfoot with skis and a board, as well as a diagram of the Caucasus ridge. Of course, I didn’t give up right away and stayed in the restaurant for another hour and a half, drinking herbal teas and looking out the window at the dazzling white snow. I didn’t wait, I got upset and moved back to the lift, which slowly crawled down and ten seconds later I suddenly found myself under a ceiling of gray clouds - and here I got my panoramic view of the ridge and valley. Even without peaks and in fits and starts, it was amazing!

Rose Peak in winter

In winter, it’s mostly people skating rather than gawking; after all, it’s a winter resort. It seems to me that in winter, very few people come here for a walk. And housing prices are more expensive, and there can really be a lot of people, especially on event days.

Rose Peak in summer

But in the summer, everything is much simpler. The number of hikers who came to wander the mountains can be counted on one hand, so there are mainly vacationers from Sochi and Adler who came for one day (usually without an overnight stay) just to climb Rosa Peak to the observation deck. Therefore, there are no queues for the lift; usually you can even ride in a cabin in splendid isolation to fully enjoy the silence and views.

Visiting information

In winter you can get up here using a regular ski pass, which you buy for skiing. It is valid for the entire cable car, for all lifts in Rosa Khutor, including the recently opened Southern slope. I highly recommend riding there, good and beautiful trails. Be sure to take sunglasses in winter - the snow hurts your eyes and it’s impossible to see anything around properly.

The price for a ski pass in winter depends on the month and the number of days needed: 2650-2950 rubles per day per person. In the spring from April 9, 1500 rubles. If you rent for several days at once, or a season, then the price of one day falls, and the cheapest is “Seasonal,” but then you have to live in Sochi to recoup it.

In summer, you simply buy a walking ski pass to the very top - Rosa Peak. It costs 1,590 rubles/person for 1 descent and 1 ascent, including the Edelweiss lift on the Southern slope. It’s also worth going there because there are several beautiful waterfalls there. Also in the summer they open a route to the Stone Pillar (2509 m), about 1-1.5 hours on foot from Rosa Peak, I recommend it.

1. The lower station of the cable car is called Rosa Dolina. I had to stand in a pretty long line for a pass to the top (in the fall of 2014 it cost 900 rubles). They issue a magnetic card, which gives you the right to travel to the highest point - the Rose Peak mark.
The trailer soars sharply upward, and the view immediately reveals a panorama of the resort town, tightly sandwiched between the ridges surrounding the valley:

2. My first “adult” gondola ride! Before this, there were trips on chairlifts in China, but the heights there are completely ridiculous.
After the first pass, the road passes over the gorge - at this point the height above the ground is 140 meters.

3. On my first trip in a Eurocabin I experienced a little stress:) The cable car stopped for about seven minutes for technical reasons - it was exciting, despite the fact that there was no reason for concern.
Several times the gondola passes over the highway built for the 2014 Olympics - it is claimed that it is the highest mountain road in Russia (although I doubt it). Due to the complexity of its construction and the large number of artificial structures, it is called the “road of seven bridges.”

4. And now the first Olympia lift brought me to the Rose Plateau mark (1170 meters).

5.The Mountain Olympic Village is located here - during the 2014 Games it housed 2,600 athletes from different countries.

6. Rosa Khutor was home to participants in alpine skiing, freestyle and snowboarding competitions.

7. Six months after the end of the Games, the flags of the countries represented by the Olympians still remained on the balconies of the buildings. I can’t say how it is now. The buildings (there are about 50 in total) are built in the Alpine style - involuntarily reminiscent of Switzerland or the foothills of Italy.

In winter, accommodation here, next to the slopes, is probably very convenient - you don’t need to waste time getting up, and as a bonus - luxurious views from the balcony :)

9. "Rosa Shelter" with a restaurant, near which it was not very crowded

10. Peruvians playing national music say hello to the Caucasus from the Andes :)

11. The second stage of the cable car - “Reserved Forest”

12. Rosa Khutor has the most favorable conditions for skiing - 94 kilometers of slopes and 26 lifts are available to vacationers. Other resorts in Krasnaya Polyana cannot boast of such a variety of conditions.

13. Mark "Conversation", 1350 meters.

14. If you walk slightly to the left from the station, you can take the “Wolf Rock” chairlift down to the Rosa Stadium, where the skiers finished their performances.

15. But there weren’t many people who wanted to ride it - I was afraid that traffic would be closed, and I didn’t have much time - I arrived in Krasnaya Polyana after procedures at the sanatorium, already at lunchtime.

17. The third stage of the cable car is called “Caucasian Express” - the length of the route is 2370 meters, with an intermediate stop.

18. The most spectacular views! You can see a mountain lake (probably man-made - it’s very regular in shape!) - “Rosa Stadium” with an Extreme Park next to it.

19. Rose Peak - mark 2320 meters! (By the way, the highest of the resorts in Krasnaya Polyana - "Mountain Carousel" is slightly inferior to it - 2200 meters, but Gazprom ski lifts will take you only to a height of 1660).

22. This is my first time at such a height.

23. Interesting shadows from clouds on the slope of the Psekhako ridge

24. Despite the fairly hot weather below (about +25), here at the top it is only +9. My hoodie didn't do much to protect me from the cold wind; I should have taken something warmer. But there were also those who went upstairs in T-shirts, without warm clothes. Oh, I didn’t envy them that day!

25. Peak Stone Pillar (2509 meters). It was possible to walk along the mountain path to the chairlift leading to its top - but, alas, it was already closed in the afternoon.

26. I decided to just wander around the area a little and admire the views - when will I ever be so high again.

28. "Rosa Khutor" in full view - in the center of "Rosa Plateau", above it, on the slope of the opposite Psekhako ridge - the objects of Gazprom's "Alpika-Service"

29. It would be interesting to return here in winter - I’m sure that the views with snow are even more breathtaking

33. Warning signs everywhere

34. The beginning of the trekking trail to the Stone Pillar looks like this

Carefully! You may experience dizziness while viewing. Check for symptoms. I never thought I'd see this. And even more so I will hear. Usually this happens differently for everyone. At first, no one even suspects, but you still need to be prepared and know what to do.

Below we will talk about mountain heights.

Immediately after refreshing myself at the Den, I became interested in the lift to Rosa Peak.

The information board showed +7 degrees at the very top. Cold? How to say. If there is sun there, it will be warm and you can tan. And if the sky is covered with clouds, the cold will be noticeably felt. These are mountains. So I took the jacket.

The lifts here are 8-seater gondola-type cabin lifts. The route is called - Caucasian Express (starts at an altitude of 1340 m and goes up to 2320 m)
At a speed of 6 meters per second, the cabin rushes upward.

Way up.

Gazex avalanche system. Triggers forced avalanches using the detonation of a mixture of oxygen and propane. Simply put, the snow is undermined and shaken, causing a forced avalanche. In the summer, all systems are checked; they need to be adjusted by winter.

Views of the mountain tops. The "Trail of Champions" is visible below. I took note because I want to walk here.

The resort is constantly being built and developed.

We've arrived. Height 2327 meters at sea level. It's no big deal for me. I saw how many people experienced discomfort due to low atmospheric pressure.
In fact, this is a fairly comfortable height for all people.

In the cabin I heard that the “miner” (altitude sickness) was going to hit here now.
The answer followed: “What the hell is a miner, at 2000 meters?!”

Yes indeed. Where?

Let's look at the emerging signs of this disease with increasing altitude:

Altitude 800 - 1000 meters above sea level. Easy to tolerate for almost everyone.

Altitude 1000 - 2500 meters above sea level. Physically unprepared people may feel lethargic, feel slightly dizzy, and have an increased heart rate. There is no "miner".

2500 - 3000 meters above sea level. For the majority who have risen sharply to such a height, their behavior may change: their mood rises, laughter and fun arise for no reason, excessive talkativeness breaks through. There is no "miner".

3000 - 5000 meters above sea level. Everything is serious here. For many, that same “miner” appears in the initial stage. Immediately the breathing rhythm changes. There is a feeling of suffocation. Possibly nausea. Stomach ache. There is a change from euphoria to apathy and indifference. It is possible for these signs to develop after some time.

5000 - 7000 meters above sea level and beyond. Dangerous height. Signs of weakness, heaviness, severe fatigue. If you turn your head sharply, you feel dizzy. Blue lips, bloody nose and hallucinations are the very signs that reveal mountain sickness.

But here on Rosa Peak, not everything is so scary - it’s only 2000 meters =) The euphoria here for some is off the charts.

There are protective fences and signs along the entire perimeter of the summit.

You can easily slide down the slope.

View of the Olympic Village

In the distance is the Mountain Olympic Village from a height of 2327 meters.

More and more visitors are arriving.

And someone says there is no one.

For tourists there is a place to turn around.

About euphoria. When you don't have enough of it, take a hookah.

Mountain Stone Pillar 2509 meters

It seemed like everyone had a photo with this friend.

Pleased.

As I said. The sun came out and the tourists finally relaxed.

We threw off our jackets, took out our hookahs and began the difficult task of taking a selfie with the mountains in the background.

If you look down, there is an abyss everywhere.

There is snow here and there.

A few more weeks and he won't be there at all.

It's time to go down.

Clouds immediately appeared.

And it got sharply cold.

Traditional panorama

The Rosa Khutor ski resort is a legacy of the XXII Winter Olympic Games in 2014 in Sochi. Every year the Rosa Khutor resort only increases its popularity among tourists. Now Sochi attracts not only a beach holiday in the summer season, but also the opportunity to try out the snow-covered mountain slopes of the Caucasus by skiing or snowboarding on them in the winter season. The Rosa Khutor ski resort is currently the largest in Russia. This is the only place in the country where competitions in all types of alpine skiing, snowboarding and freestyle can be held.

All resort facilities are located on the slopes of the Aibga ridge: northern and southern. Cable cars have been built from “Rosa Valley” at 560 meters from sea level to 2320 meters at “Rosa Peak”. Modern ski lifts, manufactured by industry leaders Doppelmayr and Leither-Poma, operate year-round for resort guests. In total, the Rosa Khutor resort has 28 lifts, providing a daily capacity of tens of thousands of people. All types of lifts are presented here: gondola, chairlifts, conveyor and rope tows.

After the Olympics, all buildings were converted into hotels and hostels, where today anyone can stay.

Ski pass - a single electronic ticket for the lifts

At the Rosa Khutor resort there is a single electronic ticket for all lifts - a ski pass. In the winter season, the resort offers several types of ski passes: family, children, group, individual, as well as seasonal and annual for adults and children.

Most tourists choose to purchase a one-day or multi-day ski pass. And this is logical if you came to ride for a short time. A one-day ski pass, as well as a multi-day one, gives you the opportunity to ski from 8:30 to 17:00 on all open slopes of the Rosa Khutor resort and, of course, use of all working cable cars. If this is not enough for you, then it’s worth paying extra for evening skiing and continuing down the slope under the starry sky. But don't forget about the time of the last lift on the cable car for the final descent.

There are offers for frequent guests of the resort - these are seasonal and annual ski passes. These ski passes are personalized cards with a photo of the owner and include day and evening skiing. The seasonal ski pass is valid from the beginning of the winter season until its end. The validity of the annual ski pass lasts from the beginning of the winter season until the end of the next summer season and includes the possibility of using a bicycle pass.

It is important to remember that the resort has a personalization system for all ski passes, that is, each card has a photo of the owner. You will not be able to transfer your ski pass to someone else or take turns using one ski pass for two. When the control system detects violations, the security service confiscates the ski pass without paying compensation.

Trails

The Rosa Khutor ski resort is the largest ski area in Russia. One day of skiing will not be enough to cover all the slopes. The total length of all routes is 102 kilometers, with a height difference of up to 1534 meters. Rosa Khutor has a modern artificial snowmaking system for pistes, which increases the length of the skiing season to 140 days a year. The winter season begins in December and ends in April. Of course, the skiing season largely depends on the “unstable” weather in the Krasnodar Territory in winter. When winter in the region is cold and snowy, all trails are open at the resort. The best time for skiing is considered to be from January to March, at which time a stable snow cover is already formed.

The resort offers all types of trails. They are classified according to difficulty level: green, blue, red and black. There is even a sledding and tubing track.
Green trails are considered easy and are suitable for beginners and anyone who likes quiet descents through forest alleys. In addition to the training slope, skiers and snowboarders are usually trained on the green slopes.

Blue trails are considered medium in difficulty. Those who have mastered all the basic elements feel comfortable on such tracks. The slope of the blue slopes makes it possible to ski at good speed, and the absence of sudden changes in terrain makes the descents more interesting and varied.

Red runs require good technique from the skier and are considered difficult. On the red routes there is always a steep slope and there are no flat sections.
Black runs are only suitable for professionals. They are designed for confident skiers and snowboarders. The black slopes at Rosa Khutor are the most difficult, because they were designed for Olympic downhill skiing.

View from the top, the height of “Rose Peak” is 2320 meters. There is an observation deck for tourists and a cafe where you can relax. This is the highest point to descend. This is where the black and red trails start. These slopes are only suitable for experienced and fearless skiers and snowboarders. In 2014, athletes flew down from here for a while. Tina Maze from Slovenia and Dominik Gisin from Switzerland showed the same best time of 1:41.57 on the Olympic downhill, covering 2730 meters!
