Looking for a quick and easy way to feed your family something delicious? Then quickly run to the store for cottage cheese, and we will make cottage cheese balls fried in oil! I made the recipe with photos step by step mainly in order to clearly demonstrate to you how accessible and simple the process is. The delicacy is high in calories, but terribly tasty. These lush, delicate balls, with an amazingly porous crumb, fly off the table instantly, without even having time to really cool down! As soon as you turn away to throw another portion of frying dough into the oil, your little nimble hands manage to snatch a couple of balls from the plate. Therefore, despite the fact that I bake them quite often, I have never been able to calculate exactly how many balls I get. About 30 pieces approximately. These balls are very quick to prepare. While the dough is kneading, heat the oil for frying. And then literally 15-20 minutes. frying - and you have a whole pile of fragrant golden curd balls on your plate!

  • cottage cheese (I have 5%) – 400 g,
  • sugar – 4 tbsp. l.,
  • salt – 0.5 tsp,
  • egg – 3 pcs.,
  • vanillin – 1 sachet,
  • flour – 300 g,
  • baking powder – 1 tsp,
  • vegetable oil (for frying) – about 500 ml.

How to make cottage cheese balls

The dough for such curd balls is kneaded very quickly; it does not need to settle, so the oil for frying can be set to warm up as soon as you start kneading the dough. For frying, it is better to take a small container with a thick bottom and high sides. I have a 2.5 liter saucepan. You need to take enough oil so that the balls completely drown in it, I took 0.5 liters.

Then place the cottage cheese in a bowl, add sugar, add salt and knead the mixture until smooth. If your cottage cheese is soft, stir it well with a spoon. It is better to beat grainy cottage cheese with a blender - then the surface of the finished balls will be even and smooth, and the crumb will be homogeneous and without small cottage cheese inclusions.

Then add eggs and vanillin to the sweet curd mass. Knead everything again, this time just using a spoon.

Lastly, add flour and baking powder to the dough. We definitely sift through both. If you don’t have baking powder on hand, replace it with 0.5 tsp. baking soda, slaked with a little lemon juice or vinegar. In this case, first add soda to the dough, knead it quickly, then add the sifted flour. In any case, it is better to add flour gradually, since depending on its quality and the consistency of the cottage cheese, a little more or a little less flour may be needed.

The finished curd dough is homogeneous, soft, sticky, but at the same time quite dense. If you scoop it into a spoon, it sticks easily to it and doesn’t fall off.

By this time the oil should be warmed up, you can immediately start frying the balls. To do this, we form balls the size of a medium-sized walnut from the dough, wetting our hands with water, or using spoons for convenience. There is no need to make the balls perfectly round and even - when frying, they increase in size, becoming fluffy and smooth.

Dip the formed balls into the oil and fry until they have a pleasant, appetizing golden color, making sure that when dipping the balls do not stick to each other or stick to the bottom of the pan.

Remove the finished balls from the oil directly onto something that can absorb excess fat. I have a small stack of regular paper napkins.

Serve the cooled balls with jam, honey, condensed milk or simply sprinkle with powdered sugar. Delicious!

- this is the same pie, fried in oil and, as a rule, sweet. It can be with or without filling. If there is a filling, then it is jam or marmalade. The presence of a hole is also not necessary, because its meaning is that a donut pulled out of hot oil is threaded onto a metal rod, and then the donut is placed from it into a bag or on a plate.

There is a legend that the donut was invented in 1756 by a certain Berlin pastry chef who dreamed of serving in the artillery of Frederick the Great. Their pastry chef was unable to properly prove himself in the military field, but he was still left on the shelf as a field baker. Being grateful for this, the “artillery baker” came up with the idea of frying round so-called “cannonballs” in oil in the absence of an oven. These “kernels” were made from yeast dough, but it is unknown when they began to be prepared with filling.

Today we will prepare not only cottage cheese balls without filling, but even without yeast. In this recipe we use baking soda. Believe me, we will make excellent curd balls, the recipe for which is offered to you today by KhozOboz. However, first there is a little foreplay, and a romantic one at that.

Are curd balls healthy?

To be honest, donuts are not a particularly healthy food. Moreover, doctors believe that eating donuts is harmful to health due to their high fat content. So this is not a dish for every day. True, you shouldn’t think that there is no use for cottage cheese balls other than taste. Eat! Twenty years ago, American scientists conducted a special experiment. They were looking for scents that could put men in a loving mood. So, it turned out that the smell of donuts has a very stimulating effect - this aroma takes second place on the list after pumpkin pie. So, ladies, if you want your man to become more romantic, prepare him cottage cheese balls in butter. And he will find a way to thank you!

To make cottage cheese balls, first of all you will need cottage cheese. You can choose both store-bought and homemade. The main thing you should pay attention to is its humidity. If the recipe involves frying, then if it is too “wet” you will need more flour, and this will make the balls less porous and airy. In this case, you should place the cottage cheese in cheesecloth or a sieve and let the whey drain. You can also vary the fat content of cottage cheese, depending on your diet. Those who follow a diet will appreciate recipes with low-fat or low-fat cottage cheese.

Flour, breadcrumbs, spices, crushed nuts are suitable for rolling the balls before frying; many people prepare cottage cheese balls with semolina when nothing of the above is on hand.

The choice of ingredients for the dough is not limited by anything except the chef’s imagination. Since cottage cheese has a neutral taste, it goes well with almost any food. If we are talking about sweet options, then dried fruits, nuts and various toppings are used. For those who are filling, fish, meat, herbs, and cheese are suitable, and the same nuts will go well with cottage cheese. It is enough to once figure out how to make cottage cheese balls at home, and this dish will firmly enter the menu.
