Henna hair masks: how to do it correctly? Hair masks made from colorless henna and other ways to use it Mask with colorless henna and burdock oil

Henna - dried powder from lavsonia leaves - has long been used by oriental beauties to color hair and strengthen it, to improve the condition of curls and scalp. Our compatriots have also long ago adopted this product, using it for natural, harmless coloring and restoration of the structure of strands, and the treatment of seborrhea.

Meanwhile, not everyone can use ordinary henna because of its coloring effect, however, as it turned out, there is a way out: colorless henna came to the rescue of fair-haired women, which turned out to be to the liking of brunettes, brown-haired women, and even redheads who want to preserve the natural shade of their hair. curls.

What are the benefits of henna for hair?

To improve the condition of the epidermis, the following are valuable in colorless henna:

  • vitamin K, which helps fight infection;
  • chrysophanol is an antifungal substance that, in particular, affects the fungus that causes seborrhea and dandruff;
  • emodin, which has an anti-inflammatory effect;
  • fisalen, which helps fight dry skin and flaking, relieving dry seborrhea;
  • tannins that dry out inflammation, regulate sebum secretion, and help resist oily seborrhea.

The condition of the hair shafts themselves improves when using colorless henna due to its high content:

  • carotene, which is one of the main building materials of hair, it repairs hairs, gluing together hair scales, making the curls smooth and shiny;
  • B vitamins, which prevent cells from losing moisture and, accordingly, fight hair dryness and fragility.

Carotene and B vitamins also promote hair growth. Vitamin C, rutin and cyaxanthin also help to strengthen hair and activate its growth, which provide nutrition to the hair, intensify metabolic processes in the scalp, which helps saturate the follicles with oxygen.

In addition to all this, henna, including colorless henna, has antioxidant properties, protecting curls from the aggressive effects of free radicals.

All this makes henna an indispensable product for nourishing hair, strengthening strands and maintaining the epidermis of the head in excellent condition. When enriched with other products that are no less beneficial for hair, the beneficial effect of henna on hair increases many times over.

Strengthening hair mask

  • henna (colorless) – four sachets;
  • castor oil - two large spoons;
  • burdock oil - two large spoons;
  • honey - dessert spoon;
  • water - two glasses;
  • chicken egg - two.

Cooking method:

  • Boil water, cool to about 70 degrees, dissolve honey in it.
  • Pour the resulting liquid over the henna, stir well, and let stand for a quarter of an hour.
  • Mix the oils and heat in a water bath.
  • Separate the yolks from the whites, grind the yolks together with the butter mixture.
  • Combine the resulting mixture with henna and mix everything well.

The amount of ingredients in the recipe is designed for long curls. If you have medium-length hair or even short hair, reduce the amount of ingredients while maintaining the proportions.

The resulting mixture should be applied to the hair, it should cover it with a fairly thick layer. Be sure to put a polyethylene cap on your head and tie a scarf or towel over it. The first time the mask is left on the hair for half an hour, after which the curls are washed well with running water. Apply regularly approximately twice a week, each time increasing the exposure time by a quarter of an hour until it reaches a maximum period of 1.5 hours.

Of course, before using the product for the first time, you need to conduct a test by applying it to your wrist for a quarter of an hour. Henna usually does not cause allergies, but the mask is multi-component, so the risk of allergic reactions increases significantly. Only if there is no doubt that your body accepts the product calmly, it can be used for hair care.

Moisturizing mask for dry hair

  • colorless henna – 2 sachets;
  • water – 1 glass;
  • avocado – 1 pc.;
  • castor oil - large spoon;
  • burdock oil - a large spoon.

Cooking method:

  • Brew henna with hot but not boiling water, stir and let it brew.
  • At this time, grind the avocado pulp in a blender and mix with oils.
  • Combine and stir well the henna and avocado puree so that all components are distributed evenly.

The recipe is designed for long hair; for medium-length or short hair you will only need one packet of henna, half a glass of water, half an avocado and half a tablespoon each of burdock and castor oils.

The product is used after each shampoo to moisturize dry hair, prevent split ends and fragility of strands. At the same time, the product moisturizes the scalp and fights dandruff.

Keep the mask on your hair under a plastic cap and towel for half an hour. This time is considered sufficient to obtain the desired result; increasing the exposure time will not significantly affect it, so there is no need to do this. However, there will be no harm from this either; if you wish, you can leave the mask on your head for at least two hours.

Balancing mask for oily hair

  • henna (colorless) – 3 sachets;
  • water - two glasses;
  • blue clay - three tablespoons;
  • burdock oil – three dessert spoons;
  • rosemary oil – 5 drops.

Cooking method:

  • Brew henna with water at the rate of half a glass per sachet. The water should be boiled and hot, but not hotter than 80° C.
  • Mash the clay so that not a single lump remains, pour in half a glass of warm water and mix well to obtain a homogeneous mass.
  • Add burdock oil and rosemary ether to the clay, mix thoroughly again.
  • Combine the clay with henna and mix everything as best as possible. If the consistency is too thick, dilute the mixture with a little boiled water or, even better, a decoction of oak bark.

The mask is applied to the scalp and roots, then to the curls along their entire length, insulated with a shower cap or a piece of polyethylene. After half an hour, the mask must be washed off; it is not recommended to keep it on longer.

This product helps reduce hair oiliness at the roots and at the same time moisturize the strands at the ends. The second effect it has is strengthening the curls and activating their growth. It also copes quite effectively with oily seborrhea and other skin diseases.

  • Brew henna with water (temperature 70–80° C).
  • Heat the kefir a little in a water bath, dilute burdock oil in it, add butter.
  • Combine henna with kefir and stir well. If the mass is too thick, add a little more kefir or a decoction of burdock and nettle.

The product should be applied to the hair roots and scalp, the remaining should be distributed along the entire length of the strands. The amount of components indicated in the recipe should be enough to apply to long hair. If the curls are short, it is advisable to adjust the recipe by reducing the number of ingredients, but without changing the proportions. After applying the product, you need to warm your head. Wash off the mask after at least 30 minutes, maximum after an hour and a half. It is better to increase the exposure time gradually.

Anti-dandruff mask

  • colorless henna – 3 sachets;
  • green tea – one and a half glasses;
  • eucalyptus oil – 5 drops.

Many people know about the beneficial properties of henna - strengthening hair, improving its structure, giving strength and volume. Regular henna for dyeing is obtained from the leaves of a plant called Lawsonia. Lawsonia stems are no less valuable - they are used to produce colorless henna. It has the same number of useful qualities, but does not affect the color of the hair in any way.

Based on colorless henna, you can prepare excellent masks for strengthening, nourishing and smoothing hair, as well as healing the scalp. Read further about ways to use henna and choose popular recipes for homemade masks based on it.

The benefits of colorless henna for hair

There is a scientific explanation for the wonderful properties of henna and its value for hair. The point is the substances and vitamins that make up it:

  • Vitamin C is needed for the synthesis of your own collagen, which is much more effective than any products with its analogues.
  • B vitamins stimulate the regeneration of all tissues, promote the growth of stronger and healthier hair.
  • Emodin – stimulates blood circulation in the scalp and has a good effect on growth rate.
  • Carotene is a building material. Penetrates the hair shaft and evens out its structure. The result is smoothness and shine.
  • Rutin – nourishes hair follicles and prevents hair loss.
  • Ceaxanthin – Can increase hair thickness and elasticity over time.
  • Fisalen is an excellent moisturizer. Effective against dandruff.
  • Chrysophanol – relieves inflammation, soothes the scalp.

Methods of using colorless henna

The effect of the mask will largely depend on the additional ingredients. Kefir, honey and oils are perfect for dry hair, giving the mask caring properties. Mustard, clay and basma will enhance the drying properties of henna and have a positive effect on fat content. Of course, all components must be of high quality.

If softening ingredients are added to the mask, it can replace the balm - the hair will be smooth and shiny without it.

It is possible to use henna instead of shampoo for oily hair. Washing your hair with henna will take longer than usual. But the result is worth it - the less chemicals, the healthier and stronger the hair.

Colorless henna has a positive effect on both the scalp and hair. It is usually applied along the entire length. But if you need to eliminate a certain problem, for example, dandruff, you can limit yourself to applying it to the roots.

Contraindications

Any new product should be used with caution. Here's what you need to know about henna before using it:

  • Hair of very light shades may be slightly colored. Test the mask on one inconspicuous curl - if it does not change color, you can apply the composition to the entire head.
  • Natural henna is incompatible with dyes and perms. If your plans include such procedures, then masks with colorless henna are not recommended for a month before and after them.
  • Do not mix ingredients in metal containers. Henna can oxidize and change its properties.

When used correctly, the benefits of henna are difficult to overestimate. And in combination with other valuable components, the masks will have a comprehensive healing effect.

Video: Beneficial properties of colorless henna for hair.

You can buy colorless henna at any pharmacy for mere pennies. To make a classic healing hair mask, henna powder must be properly diluted. A glass bowl is ideal for this; place a bag of henna (30 g) in it and add hot water (temperature 80 degrees) so that you get a slightly thick paste. This takes approximately 100 ml of purified water. Instead of water, you can use decoctions of medicinal herbs (chamomile, calendula, nettle, burdock, sage, etc.). Or you can add pre-crushed indicated medicinal herbs (2-3 tablespoons) to the colorless henna powder and only then dilute with hot water.

The resulting composition with henna should be applied to clean, damp hair with massaging movements. On top you need to put on a plastic bag or shower cap, and additionally wrap it in a heated towel. The duration of exposure to the mask depends on the goal you are pursuing. To accelerate growth and strengthen hair, you can keep the mask on for 1-1.5 hours; to restore shine and smoothness, half an hour is enough. For the first time, it is recommended to keep the composition on your head for no more than half an hour to see how the skin reacts. To enhance the effectiveness of a mask with henna, you can add various useful components (fruit pulp, cosmetic and essential oils) to its composition. For dry hair, before applying henna compositions, the ends of the hair must be lubricated with olive or any other vegetable oil.

At the end of the exposure time, the composition should be thoroughly washed off with heated, purified (filtered) water without using shampoo. If the mask contains oils in addition to henna, it should be washed off using a delicate shampoo (ideal for children). After such a cosmetic procedure, it is not advisable to use a hairdryer.

For each mask, you should prepare a new mixture; do not store leftovers until the next procedure. Masks are carried out in therapeutic courses of 1 procedure per week for two months, then as a preventive measure - 1 time per month. Using colorless henna too often can lead to dry hair and scalp, causing the opposite effect.
